I am trying to figure out how I got saddled with the moniker of "Rat-Nose".
Maybe it's because my sniffer picks up odors easier than most folks. Or maybe it's because of my last name: Ratinauer. I don't know; most people have decided that is what they'll call me. "Rat-Nose".
Go figure.
Now isn't that a lovely name to be known by?
To tell you about myself, I'm fourteen, with long, shaggy brown hair, big, brown eyes, and a thin, zit-covered face. I am of average height and build. I look like your typical teenaged boy. I'm in the ninth grade, my first year of high school, at McKinney Senior High School, in McKinney, Texas. I live there (in McKinney, Texas, not at the high school) with my folks and two younger sisters (Amber Rose-10, and Kendall Le-Anne-who is six and is special; she has Down's syndrome). We also have two cats ("Punkin" and "Porky") as well as a pet rat (mine; his name's "Mutt").
When I'm not toilin' away at school, I like to play Cubis 2 on the computer (I can go all twenty levels easy), write stories/poetry, play my guitar, sing, listen to my tunes (I dig Incubus, Black-Eyed Peas, Green Day, and April Lavigne), skateboard, draw (people say I'm a really good artist; in fact, that's what I want to be when I graduate from college in a few years--an illustrator, perhaps work for Pixar) and annoy my pesty sisters. I have a very happy life whereas many of my peers do not.
I think part of it has to do with church. We go to Grace Christian Fellowship here in McKinney every Sunday, me and the family. (Of course, the pets don't go. LOL)
I love Jesus, believe it or not. I became saved when I was ten. I sing in the choir every Sunday.
I sing tenor.
I think this is one reason why girls dig me because they like how I sing. They like my voice. In fact, some should say I should try out for "American Idol".
Yeah, right! I don't think so!
Well, I gotta' go. Tiime to roll the slugs disguised as sisters outtaa bed, then get breakfast on. I'll write in here another day with more about me and my life. Take care; I'm outta' here!
Really enjoyable!!! Busy, smart kid! What a photo too! Ugh! Last names can sometimes be torture. I remember in Atlanta this guy named Poodt. He was Dutch. They pronounce it Poat, but the reader doesn't know that in advance. Crazy huh? Cheers

Well, this young character Matt most certainly comes across as a mature young fella who handles responsibilities really well. I loved the story, especially with the pets included. I'll be anxious to see what direction this young man and his family will lead us. I do agree with Rose...Mark needs to get rid of that nickname or the girls will drop him no matter how beautiful he sings........just kidding. Great write keep those stories coming!!
Loved it...I love the nickname...I think we all had them when we were growing up, and some of them stick around a little longer. My nickname of juice was given to me at the age of eleven and to this day I am still called juice by many of my family members and friends. My email even begins with juice...hey it could be worse. Right? I don't mind, a boy I went to school with who passed away a few years ago gave me the name, guess what my favorite gum was and still is today...yeap Juicy Fruit! There ya, have it! Enjoyed this write my friend, a very realistic journaling...you write it well my friend. Sounds like this guy has it all together, a Christian, a singer, great personality...and the zits will disapear before no time! Enjoyed!

I like you nickname - Rat-Nose. When I was your age, I had a much worse moniker, but I ain't Tellin ya! Rat-Nose reminds me of the Rat-Pack, a pretty cool bunch of Dudes, long before your time, that all the girls thought were pretty cool, too, because they also knew how to sing!
Poor kid, stuck with a moniker like Rat - Nose! At least he isn't a rat, he sounds like a cool kid. :) One I want to read more about - well done, Karen!!
