Jenna Aurora writes in her journal while watching television.

Sunday, April 6, 2008, 4:58 p.m., Anchorage, Alaska~

Dear Journal~

Jenna Aurora here.  Am sitting here in the livingroom, watching television with the family.  Michael is off work tonight; and the boys are playing quietly, being good children.

The dog and cat are also sitting by the television; cat stretched out on her side, and the dog is looking at her, wondering just who she is.  It's adorable!

Weather snowy tonight; last night we had some amazing auroral displays.  I took some pictures of the auroras; will post them online one of these days (if I can ever get some free time!).

I am doing okay; have been having migraine headaches lately.  Don't know what's going on, but I never get headaches.  Hope it's nothing serious; have already made an appointment with my doctor for later this week.  I will keep you posted as to what's going on with me.

Maybe it's all the stress my health's piled up on me.  Maybe it's because I don't sleep enough as it is.  I know I should, but I don't.

Maybe it's because of all the demands my disabilities place upon me.  Being a hemiplegic (unable to move one side) is difficult at best, and being hearing-impaired can be quite a daunting challenge.  The world is full of souds: sounds I've never heard.  I have had to rely on my remaining senses to navigate this world.

Now maybe that I will be getting disability, the financial troubles will ease.  It's expensive to raise children; and with the ever increasing food/gas prices, it's a wonder I (or the family) don't end up on the streets, homeless.

It's one of my biggest fears.

Was watching "America's Funniest Home Videos" and then "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"; we watch those shows every week.  We are now watching "Oprah's Big Give".  I don't know what to think of Oprah: she seems to be a caring person, willing to help those in need; but she needs to focus more on people here, not just those in Africa, other third-world countries--and not just children.

There are struggling adults in this world, too--like me, for instance.

All our money goes to bills (or the needs of our boys); what's left is not much to live on; we often eat canned goods because we can't afford the cost of veggies, meat, milk, or other foodstuff that's supposed to be healthy for you.  Or we eat out at fast food joints, and that's not good either.

Or those adults who are sick:  what about helping them?? They need to know people care for them too instead of just forgetting about them!!

Now I've done it: gone and depressed myself again. I have a bad habit of doing that!  I need to stop that, focus on the blsesings of our life, not just the missed opportunities!

Now on to more pleasantries:  last weekend, Sikik came, spent the weekend with us.  We had a great time; but Sikik is having more problems with her health, too.  She fell once, bruised her hip.  Thought she broke it, but only ended up bruising it badly, much to our relief.  It scared us when she fell; scared her, too!

Sikik looks good; still tiny, no meat on her bones.  We tried to fatten her up; but she eats like a bird.  She is used to eating caribou, elk, or whale; American food is still too strong, unpleasant to her taste buds.  She does like Coke, but not much else.  Even hamburgers, salads, etc. is enough to warrent an ugly face from her! LOL  It's pretty funny!

That's the Inuit in her, I guess.  I am part Inuit too, but I love most foods excepting for Mexican or Cajun: they are way too spicy for me!  (Maybe I do need to eat some to keep warm, but I nearly burn my face off when I eat Cajun or Mexican foods! LOL)

Michael, he is an eating machine: he loves everything!! LOL And the boys, they take after him, particularly Mattie!  (Kenai's still too young yet to worry about how foods really taste.)

Well, I am going to go now: phone light blinking; someone's calling.  Will have to put on the TTY and see who's on the other end.  Maybe it's Louie or maybe even Jerrica, my sister.  Or maybe even Sikik.  Won't know until I answer the phone! LOL

I will write more later; until later, take care!  I will let you know what the doctor says about my migraine headaches!  Hopefully it's nothing serious; I pray it isn't!  I have enough worries in my life than having to add more health scares!! Sheesh!!

~Jenna Aurora. :(

Oh may, the economic worries on top of illness ones, there's a God test on fortitude if there was one.
But, from that fog of fears also come out optimism, wonder for that little things from everyday's life.
The bamboo is very strong, and it can bend without breaking.

Plenty of points to ponder here... just looking on-line today, and saw some pretty great programs going on around the world to teach poeple how to grow their own food... pretty amazing stuff... and all done through volunteer work. Now that's real help. --Charlie

Karen,

LOL @ "nearly burn my face off eating Cajun or Mexican." Whoo! That can be spicy hot - at least, she wouldn't be cold in Alaska. :) Well done! Understand about helping adults, too, but guess they figure a child has no choice ... whereas an adult does.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
