An update on a special little girl and her family, as written by her mother.
Colbie Colbert here.
Sorry for not writing; we've been moving back into our house that was damaged by the hurricane back in August (Gustav); it's since been repaired, and now that hurricane season is just about over, I can breathe a little easier, relax.
Van has been busy working for the city, and I continue to care for my brood: Granger Dalton (now four and a half months old; what a little cutie pie he is!), six-year-old Diamond Ruby, and five-year-old Kaitlyn Ashley.
Since I last wrote, Kaitlyn's health has been holding its own: no calls to the paramedics; her heart has been behaving itself, but we still go to her pediatric cardiologist, Dr. Tungsten, every month, to make sure her little heart is okay. (She sometimes gets tachycardia, or where her heart races; it causes her to have trouble breathing. It's always scary when she has this because I get scared that she's going to have a heart attack.)
Kaitlyn is now in pre-school; she loves it, and has made many wonderful friends. Her teachers are so good and patient with her! I am so proud of her, I could just bust!!
Diamond's now in the first grade, and Dalton--well, he's just happy being a baby. :) He has a headful of inky-black hair (he has his daddy's hair; my hair is a russet red in color), and the biggest black eyes you can imagine. He definitely has the Cajun heritage in his looks!
I am now attending a peer group for mothers of children who have special needs; it's comforting to know that I'm not alone in my struggles that my daughter goes through.
Well, little Granger is crying again, so I must tend to him. Sorry for having to run off like this; I will write in here again soon. Until later, this is Colbie signing out of here. So long and God bless!
~Love, your friend in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Colbie. :)

Reading this journal entry and others is like "receiving a letter from a friend". You give us a glance into other's lives, how they live, think, and deal with everyday life and prolems. Well done, Karen.
When two men hit the reset button and decide to go out looking for the good in the world, they not only find it but also a lot more.
