Howdy! Spinner here; hope this finds y'all well!
Only the later part of March, and already we've had several rounds of interestin' weather roll through here. Some tornadoes around here, but not where we live; they went around us. The skies did get pretty weird looking, plus the sirens sang their sirensong, which sent us scurryin' to the basement.
I was upset; I wanted to watch the weather; mama said nothin' doing; I was to get to the basement, chop-chop!
Finally heard from Uncle Twister. He'd been hurt in the tornadoes that hit Oklahoma last month; he'd wrapped his car around a tree when a gust of wind made him lose control of the car, and sent him sideways on a muddy road. He broke his back; he's got a little while to go yet before he returns to his stormchasing.
We didn't go to that chase thing in Texas, as you can imagine. I was soooo disappointed, so much, in fact, all I could do was cry! I really wanted to go and meet all those big shot chasers (and hopefully a real live meteorologist or two)! It was because of Uncle Twister's accident.
We had some wild weather roll through here yesterday evening; it really got interestin' around eight/nine o'clock! Baseball- to softball- sized hail, extremely heavy rains, tornadoes, winds gusting to over hurricane speed, and strobe (constant) lightning; it was freaky-cool! You could hear the hail bangin' against the house; several times during the storm, our power cut out for about a minute, freakin' out all of us (excepting me; I was enjoyin' it!).
Luckily, no damage by us, but there was some reports of damage 'round the Atlanta area by the newscasters when we'd watched the local news this morning before I went off to school.
Later on tonight, we may get it again. We're currently under a tornado watch until 3 in the morning. That means I will get to stand by the bedroom window with my camera and take pictures--that is, if my mama and/or daddy don't drag me to the basement until the storms have passed.
That's what they usually do when it storms, and it bugs me to no end! I'm a stormchaser, not a dang fool hider-from-storms! I live for storms; I want to be a weatherman! How am I going to be a weatherman and report on the weather when I'm always bein' dragged to the basement during storms? That doesn't make any sense at all!!
Well, it's about time for sleepy little stormchasers to dream sweet tornado dreams, so I will let you go. So long; I'll write in here again! Goodnight, pray we get some good storms here later!
