A girl forgives the boyfriend who betrayed her.

Image of tiny cloud (C) 2010, by Karla Dorman.

Dear Owen~

I had been thinking long and hard about whether my writing a letter to you would be easier than speaking to you face-to-face, especially since you proved to be unfaithful to me.  Yet as a Christian, I have learned to forgive those who hurt or humiliated me.  So this is why I am doing this, as a way to ask for your forgiveness for my outburst when I found out that you'd cheated on me.

I still want to be friends with you, Owen; however, your cheating ways has got to stop -- and the sooner, the better.  I cannot put up with it much longer because if you end up continuing to do this, you will only end up hurting yourself and others, besides.

When I saw you liplocked with that blonde hussy last week, I went ballistic.  I called you everything but a white man.  I was not very nice to you, and my outburst was totally out of line, especially since I did it in front of a whole bunch of people at McDonald's.  How I acted was totally uncalled for.  I know I embarrassed you, and I am writing as a way to apologize.  I do hope you find it in your heart to forgive me for how I acted.

As you can see by this letter, I'm no longer mad at you.  I may be disappointed in you for what you did, but I am no longer angry.  It takes too much energy to stay mad, and it only makes my heart pound and my blood pressure go up.  That would do neither of us any good if I decided to stroke out or have a heart attack right in front of you; that'd be the last thing you'd need!

It may take a while for me to forgive you or get over my anger, but I will, in time.  Just let me think about our relationship and whether it can be salvaged after your little stunt at McDonald's.  I do want to be friends, as I alluded to earlier in this letter, but if you cannot stop your cheating ways, I will have to part ways and ask you to leave my life because I don't want to be seen with a person with a reputation as a cheating womanizer!

Owen, I care very much for you.  You're funny, smart, and good-looking.  You deserve to be happy, just as I do.  Yet when you kissed Big Lips at McDonald's last week, what was I to think????  Aren't I good enough for you?  Am I not pretty enough for you?  What is it exactly that you want, Owen?  I'd like to know!

Well, I am crying again as I write this, so I'd best go.  I don't want to short out the keyboard; besides, it's getting hard to see from the tears filling up my eyes.  I will see you at school or in class; if you want to talk, call me or just pull me aside, and we'll get to the bottom of this and see if we can do anything to salvage our relationship with each other.  Take care and know I still care about you, even after what you've put me through!

~Sincerely, Chloe.  :(

Don't know about girls ways to cope with emotional questions, but I am sure Owen is glad not to have a kamikaze fury on his tail! (LOL)

Of course, well done, Karen. But I'm trying to get a handle on Owen and Chloe. At first I thought adults, then, maybe college age and now, possibly high school kids. But for a really angry high school girl, this is a very sophisticated kind of letter. But I do suppose we will find out in part 2.
