An update on a very special young breakdancer.

Image of puddle (C) 2010, by Karla Dorman.

Hey, homies!  What's shakin'??  It's me, your b-boy, Gabrielo Bustamente!  Hope y'all are doing good; as for me, life can't be any better! :)

I am still breakdancing, amazing people with my mad.skillz; even those naysayers who said I wouldn't be able to do anything are learning that I, in fact, can!  Just 'cause my legs don't work doesn't mean my mind doesn't:  I happen to be very smart; sometimes too smart for my own good (as my little mami says)!  LOL

I tried out for AGT back in February; didn't make the cut.  I was sooo disappointed!!  Yet I can't focus on that; it just makes me try harder to wow 'em next year (that is, if the show is still on the air!).  That's okay:  I have my family, my friends, and church to keep me busy (as well as school, but school just ended, so I spend my days sleepin' in and chillin'!).

Then in May came the flood.  It was really bad.  We lost everything; we are currently staying with friends until our house can be repaired.  I personally didn't lose any friends or family, but many people did, and it's been a bad time.  Now the waters have receded, and many Nashvillians are busy trying to get their lives back in order, including us.  It was only by a miracle that we got out alive, but it was scary!  I will probably have nightmares for months or even years about that dam*ed stupid flood!  It was horrible!!

Nashville is coming back; even the Grand Ole Opry continues, even though the Opry is being held in a different location.  The Opry house got flooded, the first time in over 30 years; the last time the Opry got flooded was way back in 1975, I think.  I wasn't around then; I wasn't even a twinkle in my mamacita's eye!  LOL

Anyway, other than that, life has been great for me.  I just hope it continues because the flood back in May reminded me just how quickly your life can change.  Sometimes I still cry about what I've lost, but then I have to remember to thank God for what I still do have and praise Him, even in times of trouble!  He deserves it!  :)

I am facing more surgery after the fourth of July.  Having some bone growth in my knee area that's causing me no end of discomfort and pain; not looking forward to that at all!  I have had more surgeries than you can shake a stick at, and it's not fun being in the hospital!  I just hope and pray it goes well because I'll be sidelined up to two months in a cast, and that is not going to be fun, especially since it's already too freakin' hot outside now!  *UGH*  :P

That means I will have to use my wheelchair until my leg heals after I have my surgery!  :(

Well, I've been up all night 'til now; and now it's morning.  Very early morning:  the dawn hasn't even cracked the horizon yet:  still black as pitch, with the stars studding the sky.  I am gettin' stupid; think some serious shuteye is the order of the day.  On that note, I will head on out of here; I will write again soon!  Until then, this is Gabrielo saying so long!  God bless; I'm outta here!  Good night!  LOL

~Love, your home-boy, Gabrielo ("Bust-A-Move") Bustamente.  :)
