I love my son, but sometimes I want to throttle him ...
Just because Ethan is a teenager now, he thinks he can do anything he wants. He also has developed an obnoxious attitude, and I don't like it one bit!
Ethan will not tell us where he is going. He thinks he can leave at will. What bugs me about this is he never leaves us a note, and we think he has run away from home or that something far worse has happened to him. We worry and we worry until he comes waltzing in, pretty as you please. It drives us absolutely bonkers!!
Ethan will snap at us whenever we ask him to pick up after himself or help out with some of the family chores. My husband is a disabled police officer (he can no longer work, and he has PTSD), and he or I cannot be picking up after Ethan! I wish he could follow the example of his little brother, Jamie, or his older sister, Reese, who are more than happy to do as they are told!
And with the school year fast approaching, I worry that Ethan will fall into the wrong crowd. In the past, some of the kids he's hung around with causes me to have some concern. Some of the kids he palled around with smoked or did other things that God only knows about. They were not the very best influence on my son; I wonder if this is where he picked up his bad attitude.
In addition to the above, Ethan will lock himself in his room for hours. If we ask him (nicely) to come down so we can talk to him or he can join us for meals, he bites our heads off. We don't know what he is doing; we almost have to beg him to let us into his room (or at least open the door)!
I sometimes wish we could have kept Ethan eight years old forever. That has only been five years ago. *Sigh* When he was eight, he was the sweetest little boy: very well mannered, ready to help anyone at a moment's notice, joining us for family activities. Now we can't get him out of his room, or if he does join us, he hardly says two words to us, and he acts very morose.
He has changed in ways we never could have imagined, and we don't like it!!
What if Ethan ends up being hurt or worse? I cannot bear the thought of our beautiful teenaged son ending up on a road to destruction!!
Why couldn't we have kept him eight years old forever? Suddenly the memory of the happy little boy seems to be so far away!!
