A man feels like everyone is out to get him.

I feel as if a million eyes are peering at me.  No matter what I do, I can't seem to escape the feeling that I am being watched.

It has gotten so bad, I am afraid to leave my house.

I know I have been a bad person:  scamming people over the Internet, taking advantage of older people by selling them bogus life insurance policies (you wouldn't believe all the suckers who fell for my trap!), just being a general bastard.

Maybe this is God's way of getting even with me.  I guess I deserve it.

I can't sleep, can't eat:  have lost over 20 pounds in the last month, have no appetite whatsoever.  I can't eat hardly anything without throwing up.  I swear I am going mad ...

Whenever I leave the house to get my mail, I can feel the neighbor's eyes (or even the eyes of strangers) boring into me.  It is enough to make me want to break out in a cold sweat and have chills run up and down the length of my spine.  Now I make my wife do my outside work; I can't take the feeling of "being watched" any longer!

My own family isn't too bad: they don't accuse me of anything.  Oh, they know that I have been bad, and they say that I should turn myself in, but to tell you the truth, I am scared to.  I'm scared that if I do go to the police and confess of my crimes, they will throw me in the clink for the rest of my days, leaving me there to rot.

It's everyone else that I have a problem with.

Whenever I try to sleep at night, all I see are eyes.  Eyes peering down at me: angry, accusing eyes.  Even my walls seem to have eyes; it's like my own house is turning against me.

I don't know what to do anymore: if I don't get any relief, I just might go mad ...

I could never live this way, he'd be better off turning himself in to clear himself from the torture he is putting himself through. We all have to pay for what we do in order to live a life, he's not living, he is slowly killing himself with guilt. A great write Karen.
