Dear Journal~

Bonjour, mes amis! Comment ca-vas?  J'suis tres bien, et j'suis tres hereux!  (Translated, that means I am doing very well and am very happy! :) )

It's me, your Cajun college friend, Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux, writing.  I am so glad that today is my short day because tonight, Brittni, Michael, and myself are going out to LaPoussiere Cajun Dance Hall in nearby Breaux Bridge, for an evening of Mardi Gras revelrie, Cajun style!

I can't wait!!!!

Mardi Gras falls on Tuesday, the eighth, this year.  Until then, Louisiana will be in full-party mode, with nonstop food, drink, raucous dancing and music, and parades.  I haven't been to a good ol' Cajun Mardi Gras in several years; I'm looking forward to showing Britt and Michael what we Cajuns are best known for: "passin' a good time"! AAIIEE!! :)

Tonight at LaPoussiere, Belton Richard is performing.  Belton is, like, one of my all time favorites in Cajun music!  I've loved him since I was a very little girl, and I still enjoy his music today!  He's like, a living legend in Cajun music!!

I don't know if I'll be asked to perform tonight, but just in case I am, I'm taking my new Martin accordion I'd gotten for Christmas (my red one) with me when we do go out! :)

I just wish my family could join me.  They're back home in Nashville, Tennessee: maman is working all the time at the hospital; as for daddy, he's getting over a busted tailbone.  He fell on the ice several weeks back, so there'll probably be no dancing for him  for a while ...

My brothers and sisters are all busy with their own lives:  school/homework, family commitments, working, and the like, so I'll doubt they'll come to Louisiana anytime soon (or, at least until May, which is when the annual Crawfish Festival rolls into town).

The weather has been crazy:  warm one day, cold the next.  We've had some storms, but nothing too bad, thank goodness!  Meanwhile, Nashville's had several rounds of severe storms, but there hasn't been too much in the way of damage to my parents' house, which has been a huge answer to prayer!

I am currently trying to get a brand-new Cajun band together.  My old band, "Cajun Spice", disbanded after 11 years together.  We broke up because I (and other members) were starting college, or some opted to join up with the military.  I sure do miss my old bandmates!  I hope we can stay in touch (or, at least, remain friends) ... We'll see how this pans out first.

I do have a name in mind for my future band, though: Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux and "CAJUN HEAT".  (What do you think?  I personally like it 'cause it describes me and my music! :) )  The next step:  finding some good, capable, talented musicians!!

I am still working five days a week at the college bookstore.  I love it!!  I get paid once a week, and already my boss is hinting about a raise in my wages!! :)  Like my class load today, today's my short day at work: I work only four hours. 

Good! As long as I'm outta there by five, I can then go home, get ready, snag Brittie and Michael, and then vamanos a Breaux Bridge, where we'll then groove to some authentic Cajun music and nosh on some stomach-ticklin' Cajun food!!  (I also need to get to the bank beforehand, so I can cash my check and pay my bills online.  Hopefully I'll have some moolah left after bills are paid!!  Too bad it doesn't last nearly as long: gas has gotten so expensvie! :/ )

Well, I hate to leave y'all in a lurch, but I've GOT to get to class!  My first class is in, like, TEN minutes!!  AAAAH!!!!!  'Til laters, this is Ronee' sayin' au revoir and God bless!
