A man finds out that parenting children isn't nearly as easy as it seems ...

If I didn't get married, I'd probably be a lot happier ....

For one thing, time is a serious issue here.  I think I lost all concept of time when I married Brandi, and when I became a father.  Twins.  Both boys.  And boy, do they ever give me a run for my money!!

I suddenly lost the meaning of the word "sleep".  Sleep flew out the window when the twins were born.  I love my boys, don't get me wrong; but man, they can wear even the most seasoned of babysitters out!  They are both constantly on the go from the time they get up in the morning until they put their heads on their pillows at night when they go to bed!

The twins are now two.  Into everything.  Discovering the world around them.  Trying to master potty training (good luck with that; they aren't doing too well in that department, much to Brandi's and my dismay!).  Trying to deal with toddler-sized temper tantrums. Trying to keep the boys from dismantling the house.  Living with twins is like living in a tornado zone: they can leave a debris trail that boggles the imagination!

I thought fatherhood would be a piece of cake.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

How do people manage careers on top of raising kids?  I find it next to impossible at times.  My days are filled chasing boys and trying to keep the house in order while my wife works two jobs in order to try to provide for the family.  (I was working, but I got laid off my job two months ago.  Still not used to it, but the boys sure enjoy having Daddy home!)  Glad Brandi is off tomorrow; I surely can use a break from the children!

Think I will do nothing but sleep tomorrow; Lord knows, I need it!!

In addition to raising the kids, I do all the household chores and try to take care of my wife.  Sometimes I feel like a failure: feel as though I am not doing my part, especially when the children get sick or get into jams quicker than one can say supercalifragalisticexpialidocious!  LOL  Brandi is much better at parenthood than I will ever be!  She's the one who knows how to handle kids: after all, she's babysat her nieces and nephews plenty of times while I have absolutely no clue about raising children!  Now we have children of our own, and at times I wish I was still single or enjoying the freedoms of my job and social life!

Well, it's time for me to try to get Ennis and Ethan into bed; they are both super hyper today.  Must have been the ice cream we gave them at the park today after church.  My fault.  LOL  Just say some prayers; being a parent is a lot harder than I have ever realized!!  Thanks in advance!

As a father of four children (my oldest now fifty-four) that were born approximately three years apart, I cannot even imagine handling two the same age, at the same time. That is sure one tough job.
Good story, Karen

Raising one child hard. Times that by two, oh BOY oh boy. :) I caught the connection right away: poor guy's about to go crackers with the human tornadoes disguised as twins! Well done, Karen.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
