A member of the large family complains about the wide age spread in her family.

I wish I had a sister or a brother nearest my own age.  Either they're younger or older than me.

I have nobody to talk to: the older brothers or sisters don't want a "pipsqueak"  hanging around them.  As for the little ones, all they care about is playing, playing, or ... PLAYING!!  And the little ones don't really understand all that much; they're just babies (or just a little past babyhood).

I know there are already a dozen kids in my family.  I am grateful that you loved us enough to give us a home or a family to call our own, but dang, I just wish you had adopted a kid near my age.  That way, I wouldn't feel so left out!

I know I shouldn't complain, but Devon getting into my things again after I've repeatedly told him NOT to was the last straw!  That's why I managed to cuff him a little.  Well, maybe I cuffed him TOO hard; that's why I am in trouble with you.  I understand that, but wouldn't it be easier if there was at least ONE kid who was MY age instead of being older or younger??

I guess I deserve getting into trouble for picking on my baby brother.  Well, he deserved it!  I mean, what part of 'no' doesn't he get?  N-O should mean 'NO'!!  It's that simple!

If there was a kid close to my age, maybe stuff like this wouldn't happen.  I would be more likely to behave myself.  Well, just remember this: didn't you get into trouble for 'acting out' in YOUR family??  I'm just a kid; sometimes I don't know any better when I really should.  Now just happens to be one of those times!

I guess I have learned my lesson, but dang, I just wish there was a kid nearest my age here!  They're all the wrong sizes; I sometimes feel like a nobody 'cause either they are way younger than me or older and they don't want to be bothered by the likes of me.  Well, maybe the problem would be solved if you just adopted another kid near my age.  Then at least I could finally have someone to pal around with or talk to!!

Hard to be the one in the middle ... too old for some, too young for others. Well done, Karen.
