A couple is in the process of adopting a little boy from Poland who has special needs.

Liquid dark-brown eyes that remind me of deep, dark chocolate.  A thatch of dark-brown, nearly black hair that falls haphazardly across his face and almost to his shoulders.  A round, red-cheeked face.  Perfect bow-shaped lips.  A rather delicate build.  A tiny snub nose that wiggles like a rabbit whenever excited.

These are the componants that make up the little boy we will be adding to our family within weeks.  Hard to believe that the waiting period is nearly at an end; we have waited for this child for nearly six months and we are more than ready to fly to Poland and pick him up ourselves!

We started the adoption process six months ago.  Hard to believe how quickly the agency worked with us and found a child for us.  A little boy from Poland: a little boy who has special needs.  He was born with half of a foot and one hand missing (right side) and is hard of hearing, but other than that, little Gregorz Alecz (renamed Gregory Alex) is perfectly healthy.  Doctors have cleared the way for him to come to America.  He will be here before we know it: he will be here probably before Thanksgiving, the way things look now.

As you can imagine, Itzhak (my husband) and myself (Rhea) are beyond excited!  So are our other children: we have two girls (Hannah Claire and Renate Ruth who are 11 and 13) and two boys: Itzhak Paul, Jr. and Moishe Danyiell, who are eight and seven).  Soon we will have a little six-year-old boy from Poland join our happy little group.

The house is just about ready; we have a few last minute shopping sprees and getting Gregory Alex's room ready for when he does arrive.  We will all go to the airport to pick him up; we will probably make a lot of noise when we first see his plane and then see him coming through the terminal gate.  We will be holding signs so the ladies accompanying our little boy-to-be know where to take him.

We don't know how much English little Gregory knows, but we have been taking a crash course in Polish, thanks, in part, to Itzhak's parents who are in their eighties and primarily speak Polish.  It's a lot harder than it looks, but we are trying our best to improve on the unfamiliar taste of foreign words upon our American-born tongues.  We are learning Polish to help our new son adjust and so he doesn't feel so intimidated.

Every day will be a learning process once Gregory Alex comes.  We will have to learn what he likes (or doesn't like) and how to help him adjust to family life.  He spent a lot of his growing-up years in an orphanage for children with special needs, so he isn't used to being around a lot of grown ups.

Well, the phone is ringing, so I will go.  Hopefully it's our adoption caseworker calling to let us know that Gregory will be coming sooner than expected.  Oh, wouldn't THAT be nice! :)  I will let you know when Gregory comes; until then, say a prayer for us: pray to Yeshua that all goes smoothly, not only for Gregory, but for all of us as well!  I would greatly appreciate it and so would Itzhak!  Thanks in advance!

Adopted by such a caring family, I'd imagine that little Gregory will learn to speak English rather quickly.
Again a believable story with life-like characters.
