I wish I knew what to do about our next door neighbor, Edna Gros.

Seems that Edna is the most miserable person I have ever encountered.  Nothing seems to satisfy her: she is always complaining about something .. or someone.  

I hardly ever see Edna outside; if I do, she has on the same attire: black dress, black shoes, black hat perched atop her head, always a scowl on her heavily-lined, pinched face, giving her the appearance of a modern-day witch.

The few times I have tried to engage in conversation with Edna, all I get out of her is a few words.  Edna doesn't seem very friendly.  I know she must have had a hard life, but does she has to take her anger/frustration out on the entire world??  All I know about her is that she is a widow; she lost her husband years ago "in the war" and that she is originally from Louisiana.  She is as Cajun as they come and a practicing Catholic.  Other than that, I don't know much about Edna Gros.

I don't know if Edna has any children or not, if she ever worked, what her likes/dislikes/interests are, or how long she has lived here in Alabama.  I should take the initiative to try to talk with her, but to tell you the truth, Edna Gros scares me.  It doesn't help that she has a big bull mastiff named "Tiny" who growls and snaps without provocation at just about anybody who is near their property.

I have been on the receiving end of Edna Gros' tirade more than once.  She's complained about the noise level generated by my two children (I have two sons, ages 8 and 6), or about my husband cutting the grass before eight a.m. on hot summer mornings before the heat really gets cranking, or about people laughing whenever we have one of our legendary poolside parties or cookouts.  I'm sorry; I am not about to let an ancient Cajun lady with a chip on her sholder try to ruin our fun!

If Edna Gros doesn't like the noise, maybe she should just move away!  I have had it about up to here with her infernal complaining or telling me how I or my family should live our lives!!

If that isn't bad enough, Edna loves to gossip on the phone to her friends; no doubt she is talking about the neighbors.  It is getting so bad we are afraid to open our mouths, for fear that Edna's super-radar hearing may catch wind of our activities, and then she will blab it all over town!  I wonder if she has the Internet or has a FB page: knowing her, she'd probably tell everybody what a lousy bunch of losers we are!  

I wouldn't put it past her ... :/
