George Guzman writing. Am sitting here at the station, along with my partners Wendall (Gilmarten), Julio (Hernandez), Tina (Popovich), and Kendall Victor (Smith), waiting for the tones to sound and trying to keep from dying from boredom.
If we weren't on call, I or my partners would head over to our church, but sickness/death waits for nobody. We never know when the tones are going to sound, signalling an emergency; then we have to jump in our rig after grabbing the appropriate gear, and try to help that person out of the situation that landed them there in the first place. It's a never-ending job, and sometimes it can get really messy.
I am doing well: my wife and three adorable chlidren all went to church today. They're the good ones; I'm the bad egg (not really). :) I have two sons: Javier Carlos (9) and Edgar Raymundo (6), and one daughter, Carmen Dianne (12). They are all the lights of my life; I cannot imagine my world without them. They make my life complete.
Two weeks ago, we had terrible storms roll through here. Not so much in the way of damage here in the Nashville metro area (thank God!), but north and east of here got slammed. Kentucky, eastern Tennessee, Illinois, and Missouri (Branson) got hit hard. Even country music showplace mecca Branson got smacked by a tornado: several of the theatres suffered damage and there was loss of life in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Illinois.
The tornado sirens sure sounded though, and we were all kept on our toes responding to the calls that came in.
We might be on the receiving end of another system sometime midweek. Hope not; hopefully by then some of the energy will have been sucked out of it. Texas and Oklahoma are under the gun tomorrow; then points east, as the storms migrate eastward (that's us). I pray not; we have already had several rounds of severe weather and the season for severe weather is just getting started. I pray and hope that this year isn't a bad one, but it already looks like it might be.
Healthwise, I and the family are doing great. No major sicknesses and nothing more than a baseball to the eye (Javier) or a sprained elbow and wrist from a fall from the bed (Edgar), that warrented a trip to the E.R.; I thank God for keeping me and my family safe and sound. I pray that continues.
