You are another Miracle in my life, and you never cease to amaze me. You have accomplished so much, far more than what doctors had hoped or ever dreamed of! You have passed all of their expectations..and so much more!
First of all, Jodie, you are alive. That is a miracle in itself, because you had been born too early, and you went without oxygen, which is why you are the way you are today. You have brain damage and cerebral palsy; but you are as much my daughter as are your sisters. You are just as important to me; and your disability is only a SMALL part of who you are. What matters most is that you are MY daughter, and I will NEVER stop loving you..EVER.
Secondly, my Dear Child, you came to us because God saw you needed a family and a home. You were born Tae Ja Sook Kim, which was your birth name in your native Korea, but you were placed for adoption after your mother gave you away. She saw you were not perfect, so she abandoned you; but then a caring young policeman saw you after he had heard you crying; and he took you to a hospital; and once you regained your health, you were put up for adoption and were then flown to the United States afterwards. Nobody wanted you because of your brain damage, but we DID; and when Holt International (the adoption agency that took care of your adoption) called us to tell us about you, of course, we wanted you; and as a result, you became ours. You were now OUR daughter..FOREVER.
Your name is now Jodette ("Jodie") Faith Kay Sook Sandusky, and you came to us when you were just three years old. We were immediately taken by your round yellow face, your quick, contagious smile, and your shiny, straight black hair. You were beautiful then, and you are just as beautiful now, although you ARE bigger. And you are so sweet; you have such a loving, caring heart, and you love everyone who comes in contact with you. You may not be able to talk well, but you ARE able to love, and people see this in your smile and gentle, loving nature.
Because you ARE handicapped, you are not able to walk. You will always need a wheelchair; your limbs are just too weak to be able to stand on your own; but that is okay. At least you can still get around! And you don't have to worry about standing in long lines; you already have a seat! And because of your cerebral palsy you cannot talk but a few words, but at least you can say "Mama" and "Daddy", something doctors feared you would never accomplish; but by the Grace of God, you DID. And we were SO HAPPY; and we STILL are!! You NEVER cease to amaze us, dear Jodie!
You need a lot of help..feeding, getting dressed or undressed, going to the bathroom, among other things; but you never complain. You always have a smile ready for us, a smile that can light up even the darkest place! You always have such a happy way about you, and this is one of the many reasons why I love you the way I do!
You have had many hospitalizations (mostly respiratory related), but ever since you got the stomach tube surgically implanted into your belly a few years back, you have been healthier now than you have in a very long time; and we no longer have to worry about your stopping breathing as much (although it can still happen; you can't chew or swallow, and you are prone to choking). But we ARE able to handle any problem that comes along, and we are MORE than happy to help you..just as long as it has to do with you feeling better..that is what is most important to me.
Well, sweet Jodie, I must run; I have to get supper ready and onto the table. Have to work in a few hours.

Wonderful write I certaintly hope you find a publisher for these, because I can see you going far, you are taking a God-given talent and using it in away he approves I am sure
