This is Barbara writing. I am in Study Hall as I write this; I just got here, and I have nothing to do for 45 minutes, so I decided to write you a letter.
Maman, you have really helped me when I needed it, and you have taught me so much. You have accepted me, faults and all, and never once have you tried to change me or make me into something I am not. Yeah, I know I can be a pain in the neck at times, but it just goes to show you that I am not perfect, and I still have to grow up. I am just a kid, after all. I will learn to act more "ladylike" when the time comes, but right now I am having way too much fun playing football and stuff with the guys; and I love spending time with my friends!
And you have taught me patience and tolerance with my little brothers and sisters..or even my big brothers and sisters. True, we fight at times; but we are just kids, and we are only trying to defend our stuff and "speak our minds", if you will! Yeah, I know I should show more in the way of compassion when one of the little rugrats gets into my things, but I WISH you would find a way to prevent that! I mean, nothing ticks me off more than when I come back into my room, only to find my homework assignment flung all over the floor, or my science book marked with red crayon and childish scribble all over the pages!!
I have also learned compassion towards those who are disabled, thanks to my disabled brothers and sisters. Sure, they may have their physical differences, but they are just kids, just like me, and I have since learned to see beyond their outward appearances or past their crutches, braces, wheelchairs, or whatnot. And I guess it is up to ME to teach the rest of the world that! They aren't often so nice or understanding towards my disabled brothers or sisters like I am!!
Furthermore, maman, you have also taught me cooking skills, and how to take responsibility towards my chores or what I do in life; and you have taught me that I am responsible for how I treat others or what I do; and if I screw up, there is bound to be a negative reaction, and I am to learn from my mistakes! It shows that I am only human, and the only one who WAS perfect died for my sins!!
Sure, I may be a dorky kid at times; but at times I wish I wasn't so big; I still wish I were nine; I miss your holding me in your arms when I was scared or upset! But yet, at the same time, I am growing up, and I am starting to steer away from little kid things; but if I want to act like a kid you don't stop me unless I overstep the boundaries; and I can live with that!
Well, study hall is gonna' be over in a little bit, so I figure I'll put this dumb letter to bed. I will write more later on (like probably on the bus!).

An amazing right and I'd have to agree with Karla letters from daughters to their Mother's aren't dumb, but many thirteen year olds seem to things like that are dumb, don't they! Hugz
