I don't think I have ever seen such a sad case as the child entrusted in my care.
His mother abandoned him at birth; the child was born with significant global delays and the neurologists declared him as being profoundly brain damaged. He will probably never walk or talk. The child in question has been placed in an orphanage, but right now he is in our hospital, where he is receiving care from pneumonia.
He is doing better, but he is still pretty sick.
We have called the child Robin. He is just six months old and is a "medical mess". He is blind, deaf, and will probably need total care for the remainder of his life. There is no question how long he will live. He is a beauty, with a shock of curly bright-red hair, big blue eyes that see nothing, and a round, pink-cheeked cherubic face. He reminds me of an angel.
I don't know what will happen to him when Robin recovers, but all I can do is pray that someone will come forth to adopt him. If I could, I'd adopt Robin myself, but I'm already having enough trouble with my teenaged daughter; I don't think bringing a disabled child into our home would help matters any.
All I can do in the meantime is pray. And take care of the little guy to the best of my ability and hope that he recovers from his pneumonia.
