December 8, 2012, Nashville, Tennessee, 6:30 p.m., C.S.T.~
Dear Journal~
Louisiana Sandusky here. I am waiting for my shift to end; it ends in a half hour. Then I will go home for a while and recuperate. Tired, but very happy; it was a very good day here at the hospital.
Tomorrow the children of our church will be presenting their Christmas musical; next Sunday and the Sunday after it will be the adults' turn. We have all been practicing hard, and during our Cantata, on Christmas Week, several of my children will be singing special solo selections. They tell me they have been practicing hard too.
We will also be having a Toy Drive and Christmas Dinner for the poor and homeless of our community (that is on Saturday, in the evening; that morning is the dress rehearsal for our Cantata). We do this every year and it seems more and more people come each time.
We have our house ready for Christmas: the lights, tree, and decorations are all up; we also have the shopping complete and the presents are wrapped and put away for safekeeping until Christmas morning. The house looks and smells wonderful. There is nothing like the smells of Christmas to bring out the little girl in me or the little boy in my husband or the memories in our older children!
We have extra reason this year to celebrate Christmas like never before: our three newest children (Sherman, Camille, and Akihiko) will celebrate their first Christmas with a family to call their own and they will learn what makes Christmas special and unique in the Sandusky household. We pull out all the stops when it comes to celebrating Christmas (and not only that: we also focus a lot on celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour)!
The weather forecast seems to be pointing to a white Christmas for us this year. It would be perfect; I just hope the roads don't become too treacherous to where it causes traffic or airport delays; I expect our children to start arriving anywhere from December 14th to the 20th!
Well, it's about time for me to start cleaning up and putting my things away until I come back to work on Monday in the morning (work 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., day shift). Then Tuesday is our staff Christmas party, so I also have to get to the store sometime Monday after I get off of work to pick up some food and snacks for our party. I have a very busy few weeks coming up, so you may not hear from me for a while. I hope you understand.
