My name is Heather Rourk. I live in Brentwood, Tennessee, with my husband, Mac, and our three daughters: Burkely Marie (7), Brodie Jo (4), and two-month-old Triniti Hope. I'm a homemaker/home school instructor; my husband, meanwhile, is a gym instructor/wrestling coach.
I would love to work outside of the home, but the demands of my girls prevents it, especially Brodie, the middle child. She has special needs. At the age of four, she is unable to walk or talk and is fed by a tube. She can see and hear though, thank the Lord, but it's still very hard at best.
I have taken Brodie to doctor after doctor after doctor, and she has had just about every test under the sun done, but so far, no conclusions have been made as to what is exactly wrong. We knew when she was born she was developmentally delayed, but we didn't know how bad. Turns out she Brodie Jo is severely disabled; doctors don't think she will ever walk or talk on her own.
In addition to that, Brodie Jo has seizures and is not toilet trained. She is like a big baby; it's like having two infants instead of just one.
Thank God my mother helps out every day; she lives nearby. I don't know what I or the children would do without her. Mama helps me out when it gets to be too overwhelming, which I greatly appreciate.
I don't know what the future holds in store for Brodie, but I will do all I can to ensure that she has a happy life and that I find out what is wrong with her. Somebody out there has got to know something about what has caused my daughter to be the way she is, and I am not stopping until I find out the answer!
