A person who is disabled shares his feelings about people who act inconsiderate towards him.
I suppose I should be grateful that I can walk at all, but I still get annoyed when people tell me to get out of the way as they are in a hurry or worse, push me aside. I can't tell you how many times I've fallen because of their impatience.
I was born with brain damage; at age 15 months, I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy; because of it, my legs are weak and I walk with braces and crutches.
I can live with that. I have no other choice but to do so.
It's people's attitudes that get me. But people need to accept the fact that I will never get any better, no matter how many surgeries/hospital stays, doctor's visits, or therapy sessions I have. Rigth now is as good as I will ever be, and if you can't accept that, then I have no use for you.
I know that may sound mean, but that's just how it is. Deal with it and let me live my life the way I see fit!
Awwe, it's hard being disabled in a non-disabled world. What those who are impatient fail to realize is that one day, it could happen to them. Disability doesn't discriminate. THEN what? Well done, Karen.
