A dog lover is confused as to how to handle his wife's new cat.
I am so used to having a dog around. Now that Fido has kicked the bucket, we've since gotten another pet. Not a dog this time, but a cat. A fat, sassy, crimp-tailed Persian cat with an attitude to spare.
It's not my cat. She belongs to my wife. I'd rather she handle her, but she's at work (wife is a certified accountant); meanwhile, I'm stuck with Catzilla and I have no clue as to how to entertain her.
Oh, I know to feed and water her (feed her once in the morning and again in the evening, one can each time, as well as change her water several times a day), but during the day she sleeps. That's fine; it's when she's up that I have the problem.
I swear Sweetie Puss doesn't like me. She glowers at me with her orange-green eyes every time I enter the room; I'm scared she's going to shred my legs apart if I even get close to her. She hisses and spits at me and she looks evil whenever she does this. I am scared of Sweetie Puss.
Don't laugh, but the truth of the matter is, I AM. I just don't trust her for a second. I don't know how to win her trust or how to make her like me. I am going to have to do some heavy duty talking with Bernadette when she gets home from work because we've only had this cat for about a week and I am no closer in figuring out how to deal with this nasty creature!
Never been a cat person, Karen, and never owned a cat. Now, however, I have this new, to me, seven year old Male Japanese Chin that: "This breed is considered one of the most cat-like of the dog breeds in attitude: it is alert, intelligent, and independent, and it uses its paws to wash and wipe its face. All true. So now I have a wonderful cat-like dog that's probably the funniest and most interesting dog that has ever owned me.

Cute write, Karen. I can well relate to this one. I have my dogs and Jo has her cat, Buddy. And Budd, is right. It took quite awhile but now Buddy is constantly at my side looking for attention.
