I don't know how these people do it, walk or drive on ice! Ice may look harmless enough, but believe me, what looks like flat, safe ground ISN'T!
I am talking about this stuff called ice. Ice is water that freezes; but when one walks (or drives) on it, it can make for a very rough time!
Ask my husband, Roberto. He is home this weekend, nursing a bruised bottom, not to mention, a sore, stiff body. Yesterday afternoon, he came home from work, and he looked upset. He was on his way home from work when some person cut him off on the road; and he crashed our truck into a guardrail. The truck was damaged (on MY side!!), but he wasn't hurt. He got a bruised bottom when he fell after the accident, while talking to the police officer on the scene; but he was okay other than that. MY truck; the one I got him! NOW how am I going to get anyplace? What if I or the kids need to go to the hospital or doctor's? What are we going to do then? WALK??
I certainly hope we don't have to walk; after all, two of the kids are just tiny babies; and I can't walk without some type of assistance (braces, crutches, or walker) due to past health problems! And you know Jubaki would just take off and run; you know how toddlers are! You CAN'T keep up with them!!
I never had to encounter this stuff in Kenya (unless we would go to Mt. Kenya or Kiliminjaro); this stuff is still decidedly foreign to me. The first time I encountered cold weather I thought I was going to turn INTO a popsicle or a block of ice! I have no meat whatsoever on my skinny little body, and it doesn't take much for me to get COLD easily!!
Ice is bad enough for anyone; but it is more so for people like me, people who rely on canes, crutches, or wheelchairs to get around! Walking or getting around on ice for people like us can be next to IMPOSSIBLE! And then people wonder why people like ME don't get out in this stuff! Who would WANT to, especially if we were to fall accidentally or get hurt? Ice isn't exactly SOFT!! And me, I have no padding! I would bust my butt (and probably everything else) if I were to fall!!
Whoever said that icy or snowy weather is fun must have ROCKS in their heads! Give me the warm spring or summer months any day!! This stuff is NASTY, and I wish the north wind would stop blowing!! I am ready for SPRING or SUMMER!!
