A young child writes of why Easter is celebrated. I have left some words purposely mispelled, as though a child were really writing it.
The main reason we celebrate Easter is because Easter was the time when Jesus was Ressurrected from the Cross. Just two days earlier, He had been crusified and died on the Cross, and it was a day of incredible sadness and morning. But on Sunday, Easter Sunday, God raised Him from the dead, and He became alive again, and He went up to Heaven, promising His people that He would return someday, to take His Children home with Him.
You see, Jesus chose to do this; He was tired of seeing Man living in sin and skwaler (squalor), so He took it upon Himself to die for our sins and sicknesses; and this was why He chose to be teased and then be beaten and then nailed to a Wooden Cross. He suffered terribly, and He took it upon Himself to take our sins and diseases to that hill on Calvary as He was put onto the Cross and was then nailed into place (hands and feet). He also wore a crown of thorns upon His Head, and after crying out to His Daddy, God, He then died; and the earth shook and the thunder rolled and the lightning flashed, and it became darker than midnight. It was an awful time in the world; and everybody was sad and crying at the news that Jesus had just died.
But on Easter Sunday, as people went to check on the toom (tomb), they found it empty, and they saw Jesus going up into the sky. He was going home, to be with His Daddy, God, and He was going to live up in Heaven; and this is where He still lives today. Even though we can no longer see Him, Jesus is still alive; and this is the main reason why we celebrate Easter. Easter means Ressurrection and the start of new life, and this is why we celebrate Jesus in such a special way on that day. This is why we go to church and sing songs like "The Ole Rugged Cross," "He Is Risen," and "Jesus Is Alive", and this is why Pastor talks about His Rising up into Heaven. It is a day of celebration and joy, and even though the candy, Easter Eggs, and chocolate bunnies ARE a nice thing, this isn't the MAIN reason why we celebrate Easter. Easter is celebrated because Jesus rose from the dead to go to Heaven, and He is still alive today; and this is why Easter is such a happy and joyous time.
