A young mother of three small children writes of how God has been good to her, even though she has learned to overcome much tragedy and pain in her life.
I don't know why I keep on getting blessed the way I do, because if there was one person who DIDN'T deserve them, it is me!
I have overcome much in the way of tragedy and heartache in my life. I have survived being burned and having a terrible disease that ate some of my skin on my legs (I almost died more than once while in the hospital for both my burns and my flesh eating sickness), I lost my parents when they were brutally murdered by teenaged thugs, and I nearly lost my brother, Keserian, back in Kenya, Africa, due to a lion attack; and because of it, he is now hobbled for life and he uses sticks to walk. I also have had to endure many painful surgeries and therapy sessions.
But on the other side, I have had much in the way of happiness; and this is why I feel that God has been so good to me. I married the nurse who took care of me when I was in the burn ward, I have many wonderful friends who love and care for me even now, and I have three beautiful children who are growing bigger every day. I now have two little boys and a little girl, two of them twins, all under the age of 4. Two are just little babies; Eshe and Kibarake are now nearly three months old. They were born this past Valentine's Day, on February 14, 2003.
Even though I have had it rough the past several years, things are FINALLY starting to fall into place, in my favor; and I am happier now than I have been in a very long time (although I still DO have my moments where I feel sorry for myself; and going out in public still makes me nervous, due to all the stares I have endured). I have a church I can go to whenever I feel the need to talk to God, and I can always talk with the pastor there; and he has been giving me very good advice on how to handle the every day stresses I face in my life each and every day.
I sometimes wonder why I have had to suffer as much as I have; but I think it has made me a better (if not stronger!) person, and it has made me learn to count my blessings and appreciate all the good things that life has had to offer. I have seen the bad side of life; now it is starting to go the other way, and I think it is all because of God. I think personally that He is tired of seeing me go through so much hell and heartbreak; now, it seems, that He is FINALLY giving me a piece of Heaven!
Personally, I am glad that He is, because I don't think I could have stood any more tragedy in my life! I have endured way too much in the way of bad things in my life as it is, and I think He is giving me a little break from all the bad stuff. He has some sort of plan for my life, but right now, I am puzzled to see what that may be. And sometimes I wonder if this is just all a dream because I am waiting for the other shoe to drop, and then all this bad stuff will return; and I certainly DON'T want that! :(
I am kind of enjoying all this good stuff right now in my life! :)
(((karen))) what a positive, uplifting story! even through the rough times, God is there...i love this very much! well done! (((((HUGS))))) and love, karla. :)
