I never thought, in a million years, that I would be writing the way I am now!
I can't believe it! Today marks a very important event in my life. That is, I am now working on my 500th story here at AuthorsDen!
I have been so blessed this past year; God has given me a special Gift, and I feel honored and priveleged to share it with each and every one of you here at AD! I remember writing when I was a lot younger, but I have never written to the extent to which I am doing now! He gave me this Gift on September 11, 2001, and on May 3, 2002, I posted my first stories, "Not Knowing The Meaning of Giving Up", "Accepting Differences in People", and "Friendship" here. I have since posted 497 more stories here, the most recent ones being two in my "A Forever Family" series and one about Ronee', "Are Your Arms Broken?, Or: Stupid Questions People Ask (A Rant, By Ronee', aged 10 )".
I enjoy writing about my characters because it is like I become them as I write, and I write about their worlds; and I want to share a part of their worlds with you. It is like I escape the realities of life, and at times, that can be so rewarding and satisfying! I have let my characters grow and mature, and I feel joy when I can write about their different adventures!
I don't know why I write a lot about disabilities; maybe it is because I am disabled myself. I write about disabilities because besides my personal experience with them, I also want to inform and educate people about various types of disabilities; and I want them to learn that, despite our disabilities, we are people, too, and we deserve to be treated just like anyone else, and our disabilities should NOT matter! We can do very many things for ourselves if we are given the chance, and we can surprise you at what we can do! We are NOT objects to be pitied or rediculed; we are only human, just as you are, and we deserve to be treated with RESPECT, dignity, and compassion!
I want to take the time right now to thank each and every one of you for visiting my Den here at AD, and I want to thank you for your love and support of my work. That really means a lot to me, and I hope that my works continue to inspire, inform, and bless you!

Hey Karen, you give me hope. I love to write and I was wondering how much AD would hold. You have answered my question. I'm going to read as many of your stories as I can. I think you and I are both writers more than readers. So bear with me. Wait a minute, thats what I tried to tell my friend when I came running past him on our bear hunting trip. The fool just stood there, like wasn't nothing going on. I ran clear out Alaska. I haven't seen my friend since then. I guess the bear ate him, anyway both words spell the same. hugs GEM
