An intruder killed a woman's son. After the police caught the murderer and took him to jail, the mother was determined to go see him and tell the murderer how she felt. When she was allowed to go see him, she said the following to him: "Since you have killed my son, you are going to have to take his place now."
The murderer, who was noted to have had a long criminal history and demonstrated a great change in his behavior after the mother's visit, later told the warden that he had never been shown such love by any one. The woman made it a point to visit with the murderer every week for the rest of her life.
As Fr. Vessels' noted, Mary, the Mother of God, tells all of us the same thing: "My Son died for all of us; you crucified him with your sins and are going to have to take his place now. I will always be your mother and guide you to Him."
