A hybrid between a Gothic horror and a literary fiction short story, written in the memory of Darrell Abbott from Pantera and Damageplan. The darkness between the gothic horror is one that stands in the fine line between the literary edge. I will let the reader decide which genre this story fits into.
Author's introduction: This short story isn't too far off from my roots in the horror genre but I wanted to play more around in the vein of literary fiction. This might be too dark for some readers, so if you find something that would be found to be a bit sensitive -- this would be a warning to the reader. This short story I had some hardships in writing because my computer died when I was halfway done with it but now with the story being done I am proud to present this one. It was done in the memory of a heavy metal guitarist who was gunned down on December 8, 2004. I was going to release this one on Christmas but I felt it would be too dark of a story to release then. Also look for this story on the anthology New Writers of The Purple Page, which is being put out by Wild Cat Books. There were some mixed reactions to this new story but some who read this, it will take a little bit of getting used to. This story is one that I wrote about a character that is haunted in life and then in death his journal was haunted. If you are not used to something being this dark in the literary fiction genre, this isn't quite a horror story but at the same time it will have the elements of horror. This story is the second story in The Writings Collected but you can still read the bastard for free, and yes this is a bastard of a story because it was written reflecting on the death of Dimebag of PANTERA fame. This will have a full effect if you have FAR BEYOND DRIVEN or Cowboys from Hell. This is an exercise in using a real time soundtrack for the parts in the story. It is a work of Literary FIction but has the Gothic element so it wouldn't quite be a horror story so to speak.
nice job my man. You definetly captured the darkness in sadness when someone dies and I hope this guys work finds a home. You did a good job telling the tale and I felt a little unnerved reading it good job.
No one touches on the surreal aspect of 'passing into death's unearthly realm' like you. This is truly a dark read that entices one to think long and hard afterwards about their own feelings about life after death. The horror aspects are there, but there is also a dramatic dynamic that is the true thrust of the story.
