A Mothers Love- January 2003

Story taken fron the book " The Voices Within Us" By Jim Stewart

Twenty years after my mother's death, I finally got around to looking through some old boxes she had. My mother had been on my mind for a while and I never had looked into any of these boxes in all these years. In one of the boxes I found an old baby book. I thought it was my sisters at first, because I had never seen it before. Much to my surprise, it was mine. I had another baby book that I had looked at many times but never had I seen this one before. This book had approximatelt 140 pages in it, but only 12 were filled in. One page was letter that my mother wrote to me the day I was born. Finding this letter, when I needed some encouragement and was thinking about her, was like she was talking to me from the grave. Here is a copy of the letter.

Dear Son,

Your happiness is important to me, but you must remember several things. Remember, always, "Build for Character and not for Fame." Character is more important than anything in this world except God's love. Always remember, God gave you to us through a divine mystery and you must always love and fear God. Always live and do righteously. Stand up for what you think is right. Always respect your elders, something children have forgotten in this day and age. Remember, God answers prayers; and don't ever be ashamed to pray in public or private. I love you son, with all my heart.
