Jessa continues her obsession with Vladissmire's strange dissappearences, But Jordan doesn't approve.....until he reads for himself.

Jordan and his sister just happen to have the same days off work, which was rare.  They decided to take a trip into the country for the weekend to relax from the weeks hectic toll.  The first thing Jessa packed was the many books she borrowed from the old library.  Jordan's keen awareness of his sister's every move, alerted him to her evasive packing.  He knew of her silly books.  It worried him, because he knew that David's disappearence was devasting to Jessa.  She crammed into those stories, he reasoned, as a way to shove the pain of David's memories in the back of her mind.  "Jess, why don't you leave those here?  We're going to the cottage to get away from work, not bring it with us!", he chided.  Jessa tossed her long wavey mane of thick shiney hair, and smiled at her big brother.  Her big wide eyes took on a deeper shade of amethyst when Jordan spoke.  She loved him more than any words could ever say.  She loved David just as much, no matter where he was!

Her heart began it's familiar ached whenever she thought of David.  He had always been her hero, her wise and strong leader, who took on the role of parent, after their folks died.
Jessa would never give up hope that one day, David would return to them, and their family would be whole again.

At the cottage, they had lunch at a nice little cafe up the road, then went in for a nap.  As Jessa softly snored on her bed across from Jordan, he rummaged in her bags til he found the books.  Anxiuos and yet filled with dread, he took the books outside and set at the patio table.  Two hours passed before he heard a soft gasp that alerted him that Jessa was standing near, watching him as he read the tales of Vladissmire.  Before she could say a word, he slammed the book closed, stood and rushed to her.  Jessa jumped when he grabbed her arms.  "we have to go back, Jessa.  we have to go back to that little town we visited last year.  The last known human lived in Vladissmire about 45 years ago.  It says he left writings, that he  believed that something took the people.
it says he called it "The voice in the caves".

Jessa was filled with dread.  And fear.  As soon as Jordan mentioned that place, she started having the dreams again.  She didn't want to go back there, ever!  As they drove on towards the town, Jessa pleaded with Jordan.  "Jordan, please!  let's just go home.  there's nothing there, in Vladissmire.  No one even knows exactly where the village was, it's so-so gleaned.  there are no markings, no graves or even houses left.  all the trees and vegetation has died and blown away.  you read it yourself!  all documentation of every person who was born and died there, has vanished".
Jordan just listened.  When he had his mind set on something, there was nothing you could say to change it.  But Jessa kept trying.  Finally he turned and said blankly,  "David wrote me about this place.  He was there, Jessa.  the last letter he wrote me, was from Dorvisshire village, 150 miles from Vladissmire!"
