I found your memoir more than memorable and much more than just the Grand Ole Opry. But I'm sure you would get more readers by posting the story here. The download is nicely presented and easy to save.
I remember as a child missing on the radio to the Grand Ole Opry and later, watching it on TV. And even dropped into the radio tent one day to see the announcer interviewing Minnie Pearl, price tag on her hat and all at our Central Wisconsin State Fair. Later, a very young Reba McIntyre filled in nicely for the headliner, when, "Dang me," Roger Miller got sick and couldn't come. I was really surprised, but shouldn't have been, when I found out that John Ritter was Tex's son.
I have passed through Nashville many times, but never stopped to see the sights or the Opry. I did stop at Loretta Lynn's for lunch, but she wasn't serving. ;-)
That coincidental spotting of your buddy from the service was both remarkable and unfortunate. I have seen many of Wright's masterpieces like having attended a service in a chapel designed on Onaway Island in the Chain of Lakes, Wisconsin, toured Falling Water and Taliesin East.
