Years pass and you still miss what was once taken for granted, because loving memories never leave your heart. Straying into the dream world is a signal from beyond begins to flashback into your heart. Deep inside you know the answer, sooner or later we all partake in this lasting ritual.
You stand and watch as the many seasonal changes produce the green vegetation of life which has both strength and power. The green grass has an ability of marking time but slowly turns into a dark chestnut color but yet it does not die. Sometimes this very grass crowds the gray edges of the past, while brown dirt blows endlessly mixing with all other debris covering the many letters that had been masterfully carved as a marker of love.
Years pass and you still miss what was once taken for granted, because loving memories never leave your heart. Age becomes another word for tracking time, until one day you too will be forced to look deep into your own sorrow. The physical body was designed for continuous change. First it was very weak and young, and then it becomes strong and carefree. Now after what can be called a life time, you feel that proud strength slowly turning back into weakness. The main differences are, you have maintained a greater sense of inner judgment.
Looking down past the slate of gray, memories of your own youth come flashing back. Those happy feelings can never change. No more than the power of the sun will stop shinning and producing heat. You become tired as a slight breeze comes sweeping out of nowhere caressing your body. The sound of birds singing their song of life also echoes through the silence. You begin to wonder what the real opportunity is for you. Will you also leave a kind imprint? Can it last or will it become just another a memory? Or can it be transmitted in a vibrant vision of tomorrow?
The body that was placed below the stone of gray is still very high within spirits of your heart. No matter what we do or who we are, all of us end up equal. You sometimes wonder how successful this process really is. Strong emotions now transcended through the mind while moisture collects on what was once the skin of youth. Tears form and easily leave those tired eyes, forming endless drops that reach for that green grass of life. The sense of smell no longer can be controlled. Nothing but memories fills this void.
You would like just one more hug, one more smile. A captive feeling reaches deep into the vastness of the cool earth below. We had to part, but it will not be forever. Nothing can be done today. Still you try hard to understand why a loved one in your life was allowed to pass so quickly without any warning. Salt collects, but the skin quickly turns dry as the winds carry away the moisture, while you kneel there wondering, thinking, wanting, one more simple smile. Would that be asking too much?
Deep inside you know the answer, sooner or later we all partake in this lasting ritual. Straying into the dream world as a signal from beyond begins to flashback into your heart. A jet streaks across the vast blue sky, bringing you back into the almost forgotten world of today. That moving breeze drives through the body and with it the icy cold returns. Birds continue singing their happy songs of life as the sun with all of its power beats down on your tired body. Finally you have accepted the fact that nothing can really ever take what once belonged to you.
This imprint of love will last forever in your heart. With that thought, warmth slowly returns to your body. Your mind and soul are at peace at least for today. Getting up you glance at the stains on your knees, rubbing them will not remove the sorrow. This is what life is all about. Nothing more can be done because this day is almost over. Like the glowing slate reflecting a youthful luster from the past it radiates with love and affection and will not allow the memories of a loving father to pass. It will last forever almost like he was still alive and smiling up to you.
