With the very successful baseball season having concluded with a Carrington Cup Championship Cup and Rick Randolph playing a very important part in it, having once again a very superb season, leading or tied in many categories in the National Conference League and all of major baseball, tied with 162 games played, runs scored with 125, hits with 223, doubles with 51, triples with 14, stolen bases with 56 and in batting average with .354. 

Baltimore Clippers owner  Charlie Radcliffe, President Of Operations Russ Thompson, and Vice President / General Manager Gene Hallowell had met to discuss a contract extension to reward Rick Randolph for being the premier major league baseball player.

The team executives called Rick to discuss terms to an extension to discuss with him and his agent / friend, Martin Karre. Having another year left that included an option year. Already earning 5.25 million per year, the team executives discussed terms to the contract extension, where it was agreed upon for 7.25 million per year for 4years, plus including an option year, Rick would earn 29 million guaranteed over the life of the contract, plus, including the option year that would include 8 million if exercise would bring the contract dollars worth 36 million over 5 years. Everyone in the room was in agreement and very satisfied, and all 3 team executives shook hands with Rick and Martin. 

As Rick and Martin were leaving the stadium office and walking to their cars, Martin said to Rick that he received an outstanding contract package and said that it was a very good deal for Rick. Martin said to Rick, what more could the premier player in major league baseball ask for.

After returning home, Rick heard the telephone ringing. It was his manager Bill Falstaf, he was calling to congratulate Rick on signing his new contract. Bill Falstaf said that he just got word about the contract and he said that he was very happy for Rick and that it could only get better, to which Rick replied that he was very happy.
