A few years ago a poet friend of mine was diagnosed with colon cancer. (Ms Jeanne Guthrie) In her wisdom I guess you can say gave me some of her poetry to take care of. She knew I would probably be the one to preserve works. She had given me corrected editions of her work, she use the old outdated capoy process that used heat themal to make me a copy. After a few years I came across her poems. The print was fading and getting hard to read. I knew I had to do one thing, restore those poems. So I set out to retype each and everyone of them. Every morning I would type one or more of her poems. One morning I went start typing again and I found a "Thank You" note from Jeanne Guthrie, laying on top of her poetry. How did it get there?

I believe she simply place the note at the bottom of the stack of poems so that anyone who read them would see the note. Since she knew you were taking them, she probably wrote the note directly to you. It wasn't a mystery to me, but it certainly was a kind thing for you to do.
The next step would be to put them on a website like this where they would stay for a very long time. Otherwise, very few people would ever read the paper copies that you retyped. You wouldn't even have to retype them, just scan them and post them as images like I did my mother's hand written recipes.
Such a sweet thing to do for someone for whom you obviously had great respect, and what a sweet thing she did for you, to thank you, knowing that someday you would come across her note and appreciate her words of caring. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful description of true friendship.
