An Up date on my health issues and general well being,
Many of you who have followed my writings know about most of my health problems. They are here and I feel the need to write about them. Writing seems to lessen my inner emotions and is a release of anxieties I some times feel.
In May, 2007, I was told I had early Alzheimer's. It was the Friday before Mothers Day. That year we all went to Boca Grande to the Beach. I remember sitting on the beautiful white sandy shore as tears of anguish rolled down my face. My future was so uncertain and I didn't know how long I would have my memory or be with those I loved. I was facing such uncertainties. I decided to try to help my self if I could.
Not being able to remember is hard and extremely frustrating. I wanted to say things or do things, but all of the thoughts were not there. Blanks were in my mind !! THINK ABOUT WHAT THAT MUST BE LIKE! You are saying something and the words disappear. They are Gone, Forgotten,,,,There Is No Memory,,, That's what Alzheimer's is like! Did I do this, did I take a bath or my medicine? Did I talk to so and so today? Who is this person I am talking to now? Do I know them? They seem familiar ,but what is their name. Did I tell you the same thing 3 or 4 times?
Life is full of a multitude of problems . If a person does not have cognitive control and memory , what do they have. >>>>> NOTHING AT ALL >>>> One needs their mind to help to control their life, problems and uncertainties they face on a daily basis.<<<< YES, I am repeating my self because its so important for others to understand and think about the things we take for granted in daily life activities. <<<<<

Others face life afflictions of various kinds and try to do the very best they can to give of them selves in a special and meaningful ways. Life is certainly not easy for many , but I think They do the beat they can with what they have.

It's been 11 years now. I can still remember many things, but I forget and get mixed up at times. I am constantly keeping my mind active and challenging my self in various ways to remember. I DO NOT want to Regress and be the way I was in 2007 through to 2010 and sometimes after that. The illness is still here and it will NOT go away. There is no cure yet. Sometimes I feel like I am living on the edge. I do not want to go into that Chasm of the unknown, so I keep fighting!
The medications and Vitamins I take have definitely helped. Depression and mood swings are also a part of Alzheimer's as well as forgetfulness.

I have not had a TIA for about 4 months now. I take Plavix and Aspirin daily. I have a very small area in my small intestine which slowly seeps blood. I am a risk for surgery because of strokes. I take Iron and eat foods rich in iron. I have hole in the macular in my Rt eye so central vison is distorted, I have macular degeneration in my left eye and a small cataract. I also have heart problems , am diabetic and have a small place (( pocket)) in my throat which catches food or pills once in a while. Luckily I can cough them up. The medical term is Duncan's Diverticulum. Arthritis is a big part of life and I have trouble walking. Other from these problems, I am ok. There are many out there in worse shape than I am.

I thank God and my family I am still here. I still have many goals to accomplish. I want to leave something of my self behind to be remembered by, so I am doing that.
If any have questions or need help . Please ask and I will do what I can to assist you in some small way. There is a lot of information of Google !!
I have writings on the den about my struggle when the Alzheimer's started up to now. I also have kept a small journal. Hopefully the writings will help others some day.

I'm always glad to see you writing and not giving in to all of the maladies that you have. It is incredible that you can carry on and write the way you do with all this going on at the same time. I, too, am having trouble with names for some time now, and recently, whether I took my pills or something I am repeating because I forgot that I mentioned it before. As well as losing my hearing, I'm afraid that I am at the first stage of dementia as well. I spoke to my 93 year old mother yesterday. Nearly deaf and with diabetes and arthritis among other problems, like aphasia from mini strokes, is still quite sharp and has a good memory. I hope that I can still manage my growing list of problems caused by both spinal cord injury and aging. Once my care is turned over to competing but well-meaning doctors and caregivers, I will suffer from their confusion.

Dear Mary Grace,

This is a most heartfelt write I have ever read! I am so sorry to learn about you having diagnosed with Alzheimer!

Yes, keep writing, for the things you have written, will help you to get connected with your memory, and also helps your brain and your fingers to remain active. It will be like a form of exercise for your brain and your fingers. Please stay well.
