John, you got me! I wasn't interested in writing to overcome grief and had avoided checking in with you for some time until you told me that it would be shocking.

Unfortunately, while your life has been extremely interesting, especially because of the phases you went through, your three major losses, and your rubbing up against greatness through your assignments, was not shocking. You fooled me.

I learned much. I've never really stopped learning. From both my elders and from the younger generation.
