A woman writes about a friend of hers who is a nurse and a friend who took care of her during her darkest days.
I don't know what I have done to deserve a friend like Louisiana Sandusky.
I have known Louisiana ever since I first was burned over five years ago and was in the hospital for many pain-filled months (my friend, Louisiana, is a nurse, and she is very good at what she does!), and even when I was suffering from incredible pain and misery, not once did she leave my side: she was there every minute, and she made sure I was comfortable, and she made sure I had all that I needed. She was especially helpful during those agonizing burn treatments, and she held my hand, talked in soothing tones to me, or stroked my forehead with her hand whenever I was in pain; and somehow that always seemed to soothe or comfort me.
Even when I was being ugly and nasty towards her, she was still caring and friendly, and even though once in a while we would have our fights or differences, she still remained by my side, and she wasn't about to give up on me until my health improved. When I was well enough to leave the hospital, she was gracious enough to let me stay with her and her family, and she took it upon herself to help me through my recovery period as well as take care of her own family. I don't know how she did it or how she found the time, but she did, and it is because OF her that I am doing much better nowadays.
We are still friends today, and she calls me just about every day, asking me how I, my husband, or the children are doing, and she says that if we ever need anything, she will be more than happy to bring over extra clothes that her own kids have since outgrown, toys for the kids, or food for us. She will also bring us reading material (she knows I am a very avid reader; I will read anything I can possibly get my hands on!). She has been lifting me up in prayer at her church, and sometimes she or other members of her church will come by just to say hello and to give me a break if I do need it.
I am so blessed to have a friend like Louisiana, and now life has gotten to the point to where I cannot even BEGIN to imagine my life without her or her family! She is truly a blessing from Engai (God), and I feel so fortunate to have such a wonderful, warmhearted, and caring person in my life. She has made my life SO much easier to bear, and she has been good not only to me, but to my husband and to our children!
I just hope and pray that one day I can repay HER somehow; there is NO way I can possibly thank her enough for what she already has done for me in the past! She has been an ANGEL, and she has been the friend I have always wanted ever since I first became injured and then sick! She is like a ray of sunshine in my life, and I am so happy to know her and call her my friend!
