A young girl dreads the upcoming holiday season, thanks, in part, to the death of her father on Easter Sunday. (He was killed by a drunken driver on his way home from church.)
I don't care if I get anything or not for Christmas this year.
In fact, I'd be better off just SKIPPING Christmas altogether.
Christmas this year is going to be very hard for my mother and me. You see, my daddy is dead; he's been dead since April 22, 2003. He died on Easter Sunday; he died while coming home from church. He was killed by a drunken driver, and the paramedics, they couldn't save him.
Now daddy is gone (he was only 44), and mama is all I have left. If something were to happen to her, I don't know what I would do. I would probably end up doing something stupid, like kill myself or something.
I see the holiday decorations going up, see the Christmas toy ads on tv, hear the songs on the radio when we go to the store or to the doctors'; but I just as soon FORGET about Christmas. I don't want ANYTHING to DO with Christmas, and as far as I am concerned, Christmas is NOT going to be at ALL merry for my mama or me. How can we be merry when my daddy is DEAD?? He is no longer here, and I still cry each and every day; I keep hoping he'll come in the front door, just like he always used to, but noooo..I will never see him again, and I can't believe that some jerk got behind a wheel after drinking and started driving! What on earth was that idiot THINKING?? If he only knew what he was going to do later on, or NOT have had a drink, my daddy would still be ALIVE now, and I wouldn't spend my days crying!
So I will no longer be celebrating Christmas. Or Easter. Those days are no longer happy for me, so WHY even CELEBRATE them?? As far as I am concerned, Christmas and Easter are DEAD, just like my daddy, and I'd just assume and NOT celebrate something good when something BAD happened!
