Dear Pere' Noel:
My name is Ronessa Le-Anne Marie Reaux, and in a little over a month from now, I will be 11 years old. My birthday happens to fall right ON Christmas Day, which is OKAY, but on the other hand, it is also a hassle because everyone gets so caught up in the excitement of the holiday, and they usually end up forgetting my birthday, which hurts my feelings. My family and my friends call me Ronee', which is what I usually prefer. Sometimes they call me Nessie, which is okay, too, but Ronee' is the more popular choice. I really don't care for Ronessa; I never have, ever since I was little.
I am a nearly 11-year-old Cajun girl. I have longish black hair and black eyes, and my skin is dark; I have Native American Indian, Spanish, and African American blood in me, and this is one reason why my skin is so dark. I also have Irish and Cajun French in my heritage. I live in Nashville, Tennessee, with my family, and I was adopted when I was a baby, so the family I have now is the family I have ever known. Oh, and one more thing you should know about me: I am physically disabled (use crutches, wear leg braces, sometimes use a wheelchair), but I am much more than my disability, and I am learning to live DESPITE it. I have a very happy life, and I have many good friends, plus the Love and Peace of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
I really don't know what I want for my Christmas/birthday this year, but I DO have SOME ideas of what I would like. For starters, I would like some warm sweaters (size 7 slim, little girl's). I am thin in build, and I get cold very easily, which, in turn, makes my joints ache. I have juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA), which causes me great pain at times. I CAN walk, but I use forearm crutches, and I also wear braces on my legs; and sometimes I hurt so much I then end up having to use my wheelchair. But telling you about my health problems is NOT why I am writing to you, Santa. Santa, I am writing to you because I want you to know what I would like for my Christmas/birthday this year.
Besides sweaters (any color would do, but I prefer aqua, purple, or hot pink; those are my favorite colors, and I also love the color red), I would like paper (unlined OR lined; it doesn't matter!), pens (blue or black preferred, but I would like pink or purple pens, too!), new shoes (slip ons, black, size 2 kids), headbands or ribbons for my hair (ANY color will do; I am NOT choosy about my hair stuff! LOL), "Northern Lights" by Calvin Hall (that is a book; I think the northern lights are BEAUTIFUL! I am sure you see them all the time at the North Pole, don't you, Santa??), and new tapes (blank), so I can practice my music or my singing. I also would like new winter gloves (the thicker, the better!), earmuffs for my ears, a winter scarf, and a new winter jacket (I nearly have outgrown my current jacket; it's starting to get a bit snug on me!). That one will have to be a girl's size, small. Oh! And some money would be nice, too, if it isn't asking you too much trouble. And one more thing I would like is the brand new Cajun CD by Belton Richard, "The Older The Wine, The Sweeter The Taste". It's his new one. They have it at Floyd's Record Shop in Ville Platte, Louisiana. Belton Richard is one of my very favorite Cajun music singers, and I think he is terrific!
Have you heard of him, Santa? If not, Belton Richard is one of THE best singers in Cajun music, and he is SUPER! I think he is too cool!
Another item I would like is a stuffed Grinch. Yes, you read right..I want a GRINCH for Christmas! I saw a cute one at the Toys'R'Us store here in Nashville (where I live), and he has on a Santa Claus suit and hat, and he has a cute smile on his face. He is furry and very cuddly, and he is absolutely aDORable! If you can get me this Grinch, I will be VERY happy!
Well, Santa, I must be going. Have to get ready; the bus is fixin' to come and pick me up, and I DON'T want to miss the bus! Hope you get this in time!
