A teenaged girl with a checkered past is now proud of her Christian faith and is no longer embarrassed when she talks about Jesus.
When I say that I am a Christian, I can now say it with conviction and pride in my voice, and I now no longer feel ashamed when I mention that I now regularly attend church services with my family. I accepted Jesus Christ into my life about a year back, and since then, my life has never been the same. My life now is much happier, and I feel much more at peace with myself and with what I do.
When I say that I am a Christian, I can talk about Jesus or God, and am no longer embarrassed about it; to me, talking about God or Jesus is now as natural to me as breathing or eating. I have come to know Jesus on a personal level, and He has shown me unconditional love and acceptance of me, even when I was NOT a Christian and was involved with gang kids; but He somehow got me out of that, and I am now living testimony that kids CAN change because OF Christ. I now know that I could have been hurt or even killed when I was hanging around "The Nashville Catz" (the name of the Gang I affiliated with, although, technically, I was NOT a member), and it took the deaths of several of my "friends" (and the paralyzing injury of another) to scare me back to reality, and now, here I am, regularly attending a church that teaches Bible-based doctrine and participating in church activities geared for teens. I have made many wonderful friends since becoming saved, and since joining Christ Community Assembly of God church, I have found a new circle of friends, and I have even more good news: Precious Gibson, my friend who is now permanently paralyzed from the neck on down and breathing with the aid of a trache and a respirator tube, accepted Jesus Christ into her life yesterday, and when she went up to the altar for altar call, I started bawling like nobody's business; and the whole sanctuary erupted into loud and spontanious applause and cheers. (In the gang, she was known as "Colby".) So now my friend, whose life had been shattered dramatically by violence and gang activity, is now a brand new Child in Christ, and she is now saved and is now going to be with me in Heaven, where she will be healed by Jesus; and she will then leap out of her wheelchair and will, once again, be able to walk, leap, and run like a gazelle, never, ever to be the same EVER again!
Oh, GLORY! What a WONDERFUL day THAT will be! I am STILL smiling as I think of Precious going to the altar and confessing her sins; when she did that, my vision blurred, and the Glory came down all over the place! Man, you talk about WORSHIP time...WAHOOOOOO! :)
When I say I am a Christian, I can now think of the Miracles like the one that occurred yesterday when my friend accepted Christ after several years of hardcore gang activity on her part, and I also can think of the Miracles that God has performed in my OWN life, such as the healings of various family members over catastrophic illnesses, the salvation of my mom and several of my brothers and sisters (and MY OWN salvation!), and the deliverance of bad, "un-Christian" habits that I now no longer have a part of, as well as a job I love (EXCEPTING for missing church on Sunday mornings; but hey..at LEAST I get to go on Sunday nights and again on Wednesdays and Thursdays!), and having extra money (which will come in handy next week, when I go Christmas shopping for my family and friends!).
When I say that I am a Christian, I also can think of the many blessings that God has bestowed upon my life, and I can truly understand the TRUE reason for Thanksgiving: giving God thanks for all the blessings He has given us.
I am a Christian, and I am PROUD of it. Praise His Most Holy Name I am FORGIVEN, and thank GOD I am TRULY free!!
