Gloria Joy writes in her Heavenly Diary about the goings-on on Earth regarding the Christmas season.
Heaven, December 2, 2003~

Diary 1~

It is my Angelic Duty to be watching over the Earth from my Post here in Heaven, a Job that Allelujah, the former Christmas Angel, had before she got Promoted by Our Boss. (She now works for Jesus; what her Duties are, I really don't know, but I DO know that they are of the most Importance. Anything to do with Our Boss is VERY IMPORTANT, you know...)

My Duties here in Heaven are simple (if you can call being an Angel of Heaven "SIMPLE"!): all I have to do is observe people on Earth during the Christmas Season (why ELSE would I be appointed a "CHRISTMAS Angel"??) and record their activities and then give the List to My Boss. This is the same Post that Allelujah held last year before Jesus Promoted her.

So I sit here, atop a fluffy pristine white cloud with a bird's eye view of the goings-on on Earth, and what I see makes me very sad indeed. I see many people showing absolutely NO regard for one another, and I see many people who are unhappy or hurting in some way. I don't see but very little of the Love of My Boss evident on Earth, and it's enough to make me want to turn in my Wings, even though I just started. (I haven't been an Angel for very long, and I am still trying to get used to working for Someone like Jesus. I am also trying to get used to doing what He wants, and I am so scared of messing up in front of Him, for fear I may end up in that HORRIBLE other Place..the one called H---.)

I see people being nasty and mean to one another, and sometimes their tempers get the best of them, and they end up doing horrible things, things like physically hurting another person or even going as far as killing them; or hurting little children by beating them or starving them, or leaving them by garbage cans in cold weather; or even hurting adults in pretty much the same way. I also see people messed up on drugs, and also people drinking alcohol, and they don't care if they hurt others when they get into an accident of some kind or act irrationally. Where is Jesus in THESE situations? I know He SAYS He is with people, but I don't see HIM interfering in these situations to make these people's lives any better!

I also see little children languishing in foster care systems, with absolutely NO hope in getting a family for Christmas, their small or young faces devoid of any and all expression: all that you see is hurt, pain, or even emptiness in their eyes; it's a haunting look one can't possibly ever forget once you see it. Most of these kids, it seems, are older than three, are a part of some sibling group, or are, for one reason or another, disabled in some way. It seems that the only kind of children people want are tiny little babies; and that is fine, but what about the OLDER children, or those who are DISABLED?? They are children too, and they deserve a chance to have a family they can call their very own, too!

I also see people lying sick or alone in hospitals, with nobody to visit them; or if they DO have families, it's like the families have totally forgotten about their loved ones, especially if they are old, disabled, and/or in nursing homes or institutions. This is also prevalent among those who are veterans, or among the severely disabled, particularly those who are mentally ill or mentally disabled, or even both physically AND mentally impaired. It's like society has turned their backs on these poor people, and to think of such human cruelty is more than enough to make me want to cry.

Another group of people who seem to get treated especially badly are those poor unfortunate souls who don't have a place to call their own. For some reason or another, they ended up being homeless: not just single people, but even ENTIRE FAMILIES; and they continue to live on the streets, ever hopeful for a place to stay or a bite to warm their starved bellies; if anyone can ever describe what it means to have faith in the greatest of odds, the homeless person is FAITH personafied. I have never seen them give up hope, not even for a nanosecond, and for the most part, their attitudes remain incredibly upbeat, and they are determined to try to turn their lives around, so they can escape the cruel clutches of the street and escape the social stigma that being homeless puts upon them. Yes, I have seen some homeless people who have ended up in the gutter or worse off because OF their being homeless, but most of the homeless people I have seen have been incredibly upbeat and seem determined to try to better their lot in life.

I don't know why people are so cruel towards those who are homeless, but they are, and it breaks my heart each and every time. I wish I could just fly down from Heaven and give one of these precious homeless people a HUG; they surely could use one, and they need to know that there ARE people out there SOMEWHERE who DO care for them and their troubles!

Diary 2~

UGH. Today doesn't seem to be much better: I see more and more of the devil's ugliness apparent on this Earth each and every passing day.

Look at all those innocent people who are dying at the hands of evil men called terrorists who have no regard for humanity AT all, and all too often, I hear of yet another soldier (make that soldierS, most of which seem to be American) who died defending their countries. Iraq, Bosnia-Hergozovina, Somalia, Liberia, India/Pakistan border....even those who died in the terror attacks on September 11, 2001, in New York City and in Washington D.C., and in that field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and in the terror attacks in Kenya, Africa, Turkey, Bali, and other places. These men who do the killing (I am sure there are many women involved, too) say they are doing it in the "name of God", but I see NOTHING good coming out of this. Too many innocent people--men, women, even innocent children, some of them only little babies--are dying, and for WHAT?? All I see is pure, unadulterated HATE coming out of these terrorist attacks, and I dearly wish that something could be done NOW to stop this evil and hatred! This is what is destroying Earth and its denizens! HATE!!

Whatever happened to the meaning of "Goodwill towards ALL men"? It seems to have fallen by the wayside in a horrifying way!

Diary 3~

It is about time for me to stop working for the day. Courage will be coming to take my place; he is due in within the hour. But until Courage gets here to relieve me at my post, I shall do a bit more writing.

More ugliness. I see kids picking on a little boy in a wheelchair, laughing as they take his glasses and hit him on the face with their gloves; the little boy is crying for someone to help him. I also see a little girl (I think she is his sister; I really don't know...) who is telling the mean kids to stop picking on the little boy. I soon find out that it IS her brother; she is screaming at the kids to "stop pickin' on my brother!". The little girl is on crutches, and she is crying, the tears freezing on her reddened cheeks. The one boy then pushes the little girl, and she falls into the snow; and the kids start laughing all the harder before they resume to teasing the little boy in the wheelchair.

Such sights make my angelic blood boil: I would just LOVE to go right down there and hit the kids with my halo; but I KNOW that My Boss would NOT approve of that; oh, no!! He would be MAD, for one thing, and I just may end up getting fired! But something has GOT to be done to stop all this hatred from happening, especially NEAR Christmas!~

To be continued~

I cannot deal with stories regarding kids getting hurt or being born to live in a wheelchair etc, it tears me up, so I kinda skim over them with what one might call speed reading...But the story has great merit, even if I just cannot bring myself to readin it all, Peace, Ed & Rufuz

I have taken some time today to read your writing, Karla, and I love how you express yourself so freely and honestly, both the good and the bad. I hope the Christmas angel will soon start seeing the good stuff that is going on. Looking forward to reading more!

I wish your angel could come down here and kick some butt! Wonderful story, Karen. Just wish your angel saw more good things instead of all the bad that truly goes on day in and day out.
