When Selleck read his brother's response he was greatly saddened. His brother's hatred was more evident than before. He sent for his family and wife.
"Antony II has sent his response to the letter I sent. In two weeks time there will be an arena set up in front of the castle. Antony II and I will have a one on one fight to the death for the land."
"Oh no!" they cried. They remembered what happened between Moseck and Sagus. They feared for their king.
The night before the challenge Selleck left his bed and went to the garden. Lela came and found him there.
"I understand why you're doing this, my love. Let us pray together for God's wisdom," she said. They knelt down and prayed that God's will be done.
The day of the battled dawned gray and misty. The arena was set in the field. It was twelve feet square. Two men stood at the corners for Selleck. Antony II chose his head advisor and the captain of his army. Selleck chose his advisor and his brother, Sibon. The priest came forward to read the rules of combat and lead the prayer.
At the signal Antony II gave a mighty yell, lifted his sword, and charged at Selleck. Their swords clashed together and the battle was began. They were equally matched in strength and skill. They parried back and forth and both received minor injuries. Suddenly Selleck faltered and Antony II lunged forward to plunge his sword into Selleck's belly. All the captains rushed forward as he fell to the ground. Antony's advisor approached his king as all eyes were on Selleck. He took the dagger out of his sleeve and stabbed Antony II in his side. The king fell and his advisor joined the others. No one saw the deed.
Since there was no victor Antony's people went back to their kingdom. Lela prepared Selleck's body for the brair and wept as it was set adrift and lit. It was decided that Sibon, Antony II and Selleck's brother, would rule Rhon until Moseck's eighteenth birthday.
