A young teen writes about the people who stole from the Angel Tree for the Salvation Army. She is angry and confused.
The story is fictional, but the reason behind this story is all too real. This actually happened in Denton, Tx., which is north of Fort Worth, which is north of Burleson, where we live. Some goons broke into a warehouse where an "Angel Tree" was stored, and they stole the gifts from under the tree; these gifts were meant for needy children and families. Being robbed is bad enough anyway, but HOW can one POSSIBLY rob from CHILDREN IN NEED???? Especially at CHRISTMAS????
It's bad enough that people have to steal from ANYONE at ANY time of the year, but HOW could ANYONE be so cold and heartless as to steal from anyone at CHRISTMAS TIME, especially when the people in need are sick, poor, hungry, struggling children who won't HAVE a Christmas this year now, thanks to these jerks??
Seems some stupid punks broke into the Salvation Army headquarters downtown here in Nashville (where I live) and stole the presents that were donated to the Salvation Army by concerned, caring individuals; and now because of the insensitivities of some kids, these kids who needed or wanted a Christmas will not get one. I can't imagine the shock these people who worked at the Salvation Army must have felt when they saw the place vandalized or the busted windows; and worst of all, the damaged tree and the presents, all beautifully wrapped, gone. When I heard about it on the news, I was sickened; and so were my parents. (They help out with the Salvation Army every year, and they even donated stuff for the kids; now the stuff that they had donated, as well as the stuff that other people donated, are gone; and people don't know who was responsible or why they did it. All they know that it was some punky kids between the ages of 11 and 19 who were involved, and this happened late at night; and they were seen running from the building after this happened. They also found busted toys and ripped presents strewn across the sidewalks and roads nearest the Salvation Army; and this was when the police were called. They have been looking for the suspects ever since; but so far, nothing has come up.)
I hope whoever was responsible is happy with themselves because some kids are going to wake up Christmas morning, and they aren't going to get anything for Christmas unless a miracle happens; and right now, this doesn't seem very likely. Everyone at school (and probably everywhere else, no doubt) is talking about the robbery of the Angel Tree and the Salvation Army; and everyone is understandably shocked and upset.
Whoever said that Christmas is supposed to be full of joy and happiness apparently doesn't know of such goings on such as the event that took place late last night and early this morning, and because of their immature and selfish behavior, some needy kids and families are NOT going to have a Christmas this year. It seems that the holidays brings out the best in people, but lately, it seems that the holidays has also begun to bring out the very worst in people, and each and every year, more and more people end up getting hurt (or worse) on Christmas. It seems that there are more needy people now than ever, and the gap between the weathy and the poor only gets wider and wider as the years go by, and more and more people are left out in the cold, thanks to a sagging economy.
And all Christmas has become anymore is a giant, commercialized fiasco, and it seems that nobody cares for their fellow man anymore; they care for nothing but themselves, or the fact that the bigger the present, the happier they will be. They are spending rediculous amounts of money on things they don't NEED, and instead of giving the money to worthwhile charities that help the poor, homeless, handicapped, or elderly, they waste it on extravagent gifts, and they would much rather worry about themselves instead of thinking of people who could really use a Christmas.
The holidays used to mean much happiness for many, but now many people are suffering, and all too often the holidays bring out depression or sadness because there are so many hurting people who are lonely or don't have family or friends; and too many times, they are left to be forgotten while the rich people only care for nobody but themselves.
Then people wonder why there are so many sad people during the holidays...Go figure.
It breaks my heart to hear that people are so heartless, greed is one of Satan's stronghold's though, and he is getting to us anyway he can, always remember Christ is all powerful though and whoever did this, will have to make ann account for it...
