How I am recalling memories of the fun times of what happened on our roof in the house where I grew up as a child. I am doing this as a write for a group on yahoo.

I have some pretty wonderful magnificent fun memories of our roof at our Colleyville, Texas house where I and my three older sisters grew up as children. I must have been about eight years old when Mom decorated the house for Christmas by putting lights on a tree branch and then putting that tree branch up on the roof of our house. We got MORE compliments on that object than anything we have ever had the whole time we had lived there!; and we lived there for sixteen years!!!!

The Grumpy Old Neighbor next door thought the object on the roof was supposed to be "Rudolph"! The other neighbor across the street from the country of Denmark thought the object was a "Sleigh". As we would have cars slow down in our neighborhood, we would laugh because they would get to our house and actually STOP THE CAR and GET OUT and LOOK at our ROOF! The people were guessing as to WHAT was on the ROOF! I smile now whenever I think about it!

My Final memory of the roof is when I told my Mom that I had never seen the sun rise when I was about Five years old. Therefore, she got up early one morning and got out the biscuits and the deep fryer. We rolled out the dough and poured in the oil to the fryer. We then made doughnuts! We let them cool on the Ft.Worth Star telegram newspaper after my Mom had read it, of course! My Mom and older sisters and I got out the Orange juice and the ladder and then went up on the roof. We had the doughnuts too of course! We all watched the sun rise. Our nosy neighbor complained on us and actually called the police! They laughed at him! We had a down-to-earth police department! It was a small town. All this time I had gotten up after the sun was up and had gone to bed after the sun was down and had never seen the sun rise and Mom had wanted me to experience everything and so we did! It was my special moment in the sun as a five year old! I cannot thank Mom enough!

The Wholly Book of Genesis by Jay Dubya

The Wholly Book of Genesis is a humorous satire on the first book of the Old Testament where the Story of Creation, the building of Noah's Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah and the families of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are thoroughly spoofed and broadsided.
