A story about a little girl who was born without arms or legs. (It is NOT about Enriquesa Sandusky, by the way; this is a different child.)
Was at work yesterday (I work at a restaurant), and while I was on break, eating my supper, there was a little baby girl of nearly two years with the name of Kinsey Nicole; and I thought that Kinsey was a beautiful name; so I decided to write about a child with Kinsey as a first name. Enjoy!
Kinsey Lenae' Waldren is a child with a spirit that refuses to be broken, even in light of having to live with severe physical handicaps involving her limbs..or the LACK of. (She was born without arms or legs; where there should have been arms and legs are only shortened stumps.)
Kinsey is eight years old, and she was adopted from India when she was four; she has been with her family going on for four years now, and they dote on her, and she dotes on them. She is very close to her parents, Emily and Tighe, and her two younger sisters, Chardonnay Hope (6) and Reagan Nikole (4), and her older brother, Nicklaus Heath, who is nine. She also has a baby brother, Delaney Cade, but Delaney is in the hospital, recovering from major open heart surgery, and she misses him greatly. She hopes that he will be okay; he has had to struggle since his birth, and she has been unduly concerned and worried about him. She hopes that he will be home with the family soon, but right now, he is still in the hospital, recovering from surgery and complications following the surgery.
Kinsey is a beautiful little girl: dark, small for her age, and very thin in build; with long, blue-black hair that tumbles to her waist in shiny, blue-black ringlets and curls, huge, black eyes, and a small, thin face; and she gets around by way of an electric wheelchair that she can operate with her chin. If she isn't in her chair, she either rolls herself on a skateboard, or she is carried from place to place by her older brother or her parents. She is not only beautiful: she is also very smart, boasting a genius-sized I.Q., and she is presently in the Gifted/Talented Program at her school, where she consistantly scores excellent grades. She is in the fifth grade, and is the youngest (if not shortest) chhild in her entire class.
Kinsey loves to do many things: she loves to sing, watch tv ("Star Search" is her favorite show; she also loves "American Idol" and can't wait for it to come back on the air in a week or so), read (she reads anything that she can possibly get her "hands" on), dance in her wheelchair, go to physical and occupational therapy (therapy is nothing but fun and games to her; to her it is not work!), play with her toys, and go to church. She is in the choir at her church, and she has a very beautiful singing voice. She wants to be a gospel singer or a pop singer when she is older; and she would love to be on "Star Search" or on "American Idol" as a future contestant!
Kinsey is very involved in her church; and her parents are devout Christians. They want their children to learn of God and His Love, and they want their children to have a firm belief and understanding in what it means to be a Christian; and Kinsey is all for Jesus. She loves to sing her praises to Him at church, and church is probably one of her very favorite family activities; and she looks forward to attending church at Hope Assembly of God Church every week with her family. She also loves to go out to eat after church; and she says that Sunday is her favorite day of the week. (Kinsey accepted Jesus Christ only last year, and she loves to tell other people about Jesus and what it means to be a Christian. She would love to be a preacher, too, besides be a singer! That is another dream she has.)
Many people are shocked, even horrified, when they first see Kinsey Lenae' with her stumps for legs and arms or see her controlling her electric wheelchair with her chin; but Kinsey takes it all in stride; and she sees life as one big challenge that she is more than willing to tackle. She knows that she is "different", and she understands that she was born without arms and legs; and she has a very good attitude and understanding about her disabilities. She refuses to let her disabilities stop her, and if she wants to do something, she WILL find a way to do it...GUARANTEED! She handles people's reactions towards her with an amazing and uncanny ability, and she feels that if they tease her or stare at her, then they are missing out on making a new friend in her; and that makes her feel bad. But then she focuses on her life, and on being a Christian, and that makes her feel better. She is never sad or unhappy for long, and she is bound and determined not to let people (or life itself) stop her in accomplishing what she wants!
She is courage personafied, and her perky, outgoing personality and beautiful features far outweigh her physical differences, and people are soon charmed and even enamored with this spunky little girl who refuses to take no for an answer and who refuses to let overwhelming physical disabilities stop her from reaching any goals she has set to accomplish in her life!
