A young girl is coming along in her dream to become a new star in country music. She shares with us some of her accomplishments she's had so far and why she enjoys performing so much.
I am still wanting to be a singer. I have had this dream ever since I was really little.
Hi! This is Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux again. I am now 11, but my dream to become a singer in country music still burns brightly.
I have had the opportunity to have sung at many different fairs and festivals across the south, and I also have been lucky to have shared the stage with some of my very favorite singers in country music, including Alan Jackson, the group "Alabama", and my favorite singer of all time, Loretta Lynn. I also have done my first CD (almost two years ago; I was nine then), and I am getting ready to record my second CD in a few weeks. (I will be recording my CD in Louisiana, at Swallow Studios in Ville Platte. I will be doing a CD of Cajun music, and the working title is "I'm Cajun [And I'm Proud]", which is a take off on Jimmy Dickens' song, "I'm Little [But I'm Loud]".) I have also been on tv, on "Maury" and on "Star Search", so many people have probably seen me.
I sing mainly; but what I sing is stuff by Loretta Lynn, Reba McEntire, or Tammy Wynette. I also do the newer country by people like Faith Hill. I also like to do other musical styles in my shows: besides country music, I sing Cajun, rap, rock, gospel, and bluegrass; and I also play the guitar, fiddle, or Cajun accordion. I would like to be remembered as not only a singer, but a well-rounded entertainer who can do it all!
I don't mean to sound like I am bragging, and I don't want people to think that I am getting a big head because that it the LAST thing I want to do. I just wanted to let you know what has been going on with me and my career, and I am only letting you know what I have done so far. Now I love to perform; I love meeting the fans who come out to see me, and I love singing in front of an audience. That is probably what I enjoy most during a performance: meeting the people after I sing, and making them happy with what I do. Now, if I DON'T become famous, that is okay, but at least I got to do some of what I have dreamed about, like singing with Loretta Lynn and singing on the Grand Ole Opry! At least I can have those happy memories, and I also can have the memory of being on "Star Search". Being on "Star Search" was a blast; and I got to meet the host of the show, Arsenio Hall (he was really nice, a bit goofy, perhaps, but he was still very nice, just the same!), and I got to meet the judges, and they were nice, too. I also got to meet the first champion of the Junior Singer category, Tiffany Evans, and she was a real sweetie! She said that I was really good, and she wished me luck in the competition; but it ended up I lost in the semi-finals, but I still had fun! I shall never forget my experience on "Star Search" as long as I live!
I want to be a country singer when I get to be an adult; I want to be as well known (or respected) as my favorite singer, Loretta Lynn. Loretta is very good at what she does, and she knows what she is doing and how to do it. She also knows how to treat people, and she is a very classy and polite person. She would do anything for her fans; and I think this is one reason my dream still is as strong now as it was when I first got it; and I can learn so much just by watching her. If I could be HALF the person that Loretta Lynn is, then I guess I don't have to worry about my career!
Well, I must go now; I have to get ready to get on the bus; school is about over, and I DON'T want to miss the bus on the ride home from school! That would be a bit embarrassing! Will write more later!
