Maine Coons are my very favorite breed of cat. I have had several Maine Coons in the past, and they truly ARE "Gentle Giants"! Enjoy this "tail" of a special Maine Coon in Georgia!
Meow! Meow! Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....
Ahem! Excuse me! I meant Hello! How are you? Sorry about that; I keep forgetting that not ALL Creatures I associate with are not of the Feline variety!
My name is "Mouser." (Good name for a Cat, don't cha think??) I am six years old, and I have lived with the Terwilligers here in Georgia since I was only about eight weeks old, and they are my Human Family. There's Mom and Pop Terwilliger (they're the Big People) and their Little Humans, Xavier, Devina, Candace, Nicodemus, Chandra and Adhita (they're Human Twins), Finn, Gabri, Johanna, and Kris. (Where DO Humans come up with some of these names?? Strange names, they are!) I live in the city of Waycross, in the state of Georgia.
I am a Maine Coon. Maine Coons are known to be the "Gentle Giants" of the Cat World. That is, suffice to say, we are VERY big, in comparison to MOST Cats. Maine Coons can weigh as much as 20 some pounds (and it seems to ME that MOST of that weight is ALL fur! LOL). Maine Coons have very long, silky, soft fur, and long, bushy tails, and pretty, oval-shaped eyes. We have strong-looking faces, with solid chins, long, furry ears that are very well tufted at the ends (we kinda' look like Lynxes, which are another Species of the Cat Family), well-tufted paws, and calm, happy personalities. For our size, we amaze a lot of People because even though we are BIG in size, when we meow, it sounds all wrong. Our meows are very soft, and it takes a lot of Humans by surprise! We DO have very loud purring mechanisms, though, and when we are happy, the happier we are, the louder and harder we purr!
Oh, we DO get good and annoyed or mad when time calls for it (such as the time when Nicodemus, the youngest boy, pulled my tail; boy, did that HURT!). I can hiss and spit and growl just like the best of them, and when I am mad or annoyed, you'd BEST stay outta' my way, or I just may make mincemeat outta' you with my razor-sharp claws! MRRROW! HISS!!! HISSS! (LOL) And if I EVER have to get into a fight (so as to defend my Territory or my Human Family), I WILL get into it...and oh, brother, can I EVER fight DIRTY!! I can also make scary noises, and if there is anything that is sure to set a person's nerves on edge, it's the blood-curdling sound of a angry Kitty in the midst of a WILD and wooly, good old-fashioned Cat Fight!
But I don't really have to worry about that because I am mainly an Indoor Cat. I don't go out much unless my Humans take me for a Walk (I go on Walks a couple times a week, and then when I do, I am on a Leash, so I don't run off!), but most other times, I am inside my House. When I am inside my House, I sleep most of the day (except to eat or use my Toilet Box), but at night, I am up, playing with my Toys, and just generally looking for something interesting to do. I am not much trouble, but if I try to eat the plants, my Human Mom gets so mad at me, and she'll shout at me or spray me with a Water Bottle, which I do NOT enjoy AT all! Or worse, they'll give me a Bath if I am dirty, and I do NOT particularly enjoy getting stuck into a Tub full of Water! (If there is ONE thing us Cats do NOT like, it's WATER! HISSSS!!! HISSSS!!!! FFTTTT!! FTTTT!!! I am doing EVERYTHING in my Kitty Power to try to get away, but I am usally NOT successful, and I am also NOT a very happy Kitty! :( )
I have a very good life here with my Human Family. They treat me good, and when I am sick, they take me to the Cat Doctor, who makes me ALL better, and they also feed me my Favorite Foods (Chicken, Beef, Liver, and Fish are my FAVORITES! Heck, I am NOT choosy, unlike MOST Cats!), and they love on me and play with me every day and take me for Walks and brush my Fur until I purr good and loud! They are very good with me, and I love my Human Family an awful lot! I would do EVERYTHING possible to make them happy, and this is one reason why I Purr and turn on the charm and act all adorable around them!
Well, I have to go; it is time I get my Paws off the Computer, and go take a nap. I am tired from Writing on the ol' Computer...YAWN! I hope you enjoyed reading about Me and My Life!

Karen, this is cute story. Missed it when it first came out. I was looking for Part 4 of "How Do You Want Her to Die" and found "Maine Coon Madness." Mouser reminded me a little of my Fluffy. I like the way it's told from the kitty's perspective.

Thanks very much for sharing some of your life with us. Always nice to get the feline perspective on things. And, I have to agree with you that many humans do have strange names! And, they take too many baths! And many of them are far more finicky concerning food choices than you obviously are!

Lovely cat write! Thanks for the info on Maine Coon cats. I have seen large house cats but not sure if they would be of this breed. I noticed while living in the mountains they seem to grow them big thee LOL.
