Nicole Aldape's dog, "Buster", shares us his story. Nicole Aldape suffers from JRA, and he acts as her protector and closest friend.
Buster is my name, and being a Dog is my game!
I am a black Labrador Retriever. I am four years old, and I am a mighty handsome fellow, if I must say so myself! LOL I am all black, and I have dark brown eyes and a very happy attitude, especially when I am with my Human, Nicole Michelle Aldape. Nicole is an eleven-year-old Girl, and she is very cute. She is fat and short for her age; and she has blonde hair and dark brown eyes. She is the only Child to her mom, Michelle. She DID have a Dad, but her Dad died in a car wreck on Easter Sunday, and ever since, she has been a very sad little Girl.
It seems that ever since her Dad died, Nicole has been very miserable. I can't say that I blame her; she and her Dad were very close. But she still has me, and she still has her Mom. She also has her Human Friends, in particular, Ronee', who is Nicole's age. Ronee' is a nice Kid, and she is very sweet to me. Ronee' also happens to be in Nicole's class at Human School, and she also happens to have JRA, just like Nicole.
I have been trying my best to try to cheer up Nicole ever since her Human Dad's death, but she still refuses to talk much about that Day, and she still refuses to talk about The Accident. Her Dad was killed in a Car Accident on Easter Sunday, coming home from Church, and it's really been rough on her Mom and her. It seems that Nicole has been having a lot of problems with her JRA. She's been in the hospital several times last year after the accident (and once already this year) because of her Arthritis flaring up. Arthritis is a Disease of the Joints, and it makes it hard for Nicole to walk without help and it causes her Joints to hurt and for her to have difficulty in moving. Arthritis is NOT a fun Disease; and I certainly hope I don't get it when I am an Old Dog!
I try to be gentle with Nicole because she IS Disabled; but sometimes I get so excited at seeing her I forget, and when I jump on her, sometimes I land too hard, and I cause her to cry out in pain. That always makes me feel bad because if there is anything I DON'T want to do, it is to hurt my Human Girl! Still, it's hard because at times I wish I could play with her, like any other Human Kid, but Nicole isn't like other kids. She has a Disability, and it is hard for her to get around at times. That is really a pain because I would love to be able to run around the Yard with her, and she isn't able to do this, and it makes me sad. But her Mom makes up for it by doing the Things that Nicole isn't able to do, like running around and generally acting GOOFY and playing Fetch or Catch-The-Flying-Thingie. (Buster means a Frisbee; he didn't know the name for the object.)
When Nicole DOES play with me, I like to catch Balls or Frisbees that she throws, go Swimming in the Pond in our Backyard, Sleep with Nicole, share snacks with her at Dinnertime, have her Read to me, and chew on my Chew Toys. We also like to watch TV together (especially Animal Planet, that is my ALL TIME favorite Channel, especially when they have the Dog Shows on! ARF!), and Play with her and her Human Friends. In addition, I love jumping in the Water Sprinkler in the Summertime (here in Tennessee it can get HOT, and a COOL romp in the Water Sprinkler feels so GOOOOOOOD...), and I also love to run around in the White Stuff come Cold Weather Time!) I am NOT a baddog AT all, and as long as I am with People, the happier this Canine is! I am a very good Dog, and I LOVE People, PERIOD!
Oh! One more thing I like to do: I also love to chase Nicole's cat, "Stinky", but "Stinky" is a Sore Loser of a Feline because whenever I chase him, he gets SO mad at me, and sometimes he'll make horrible hissing noises and sounds just like a snake; or worse, he'll swipe at my face with his Claws; and that HURTS, especially if he cuts me! OW!!

Great furry angel story, Karen. Buster sounds like a great dog, and a great friend for little Nicole. I think many animals are angels - especially to small children.
He also sounds alot like my Turbo - he knocks me down all the time! And my cat Gabby sounds like Stinky! She whacks Turbo pretty good sometimes, too.
