A woman living with bad memories and physical hardship realizes just how fortunate she is. She also talks about a movie she saw yesterday with her husband and the effect it had on her.
I have now come to the conclusion that despite everything I have had to endure in my life so far, I have come a very long way; and it is all because of a man called Jesus Christ.
Jesus was a man who came to Earth as a Babe; and when He grew up, He saw all the sin in the world; so He chose to DIE for our sins by being nailed on a Cross; and because of this, He gave us the opportunity to save Man from sin if they only call on Him. He gave us the opportunity to come to Him and ask Him to come into our lives, and because of this, I am now going to go to Heaven when I die.
This is M'buti. I am sorry if I haven't written in a while, but I have been very busy with my family and working five days a week; and what free time I DO have is very limited at best. But I am writing now because yesterday (Thursday), my husband and myself saw a movie, and it really had a profound effect on me. We saw the movie "The Passion of The Christ", after I got off work, and it was very upsetting at times; but the Message within it was quite clear and very powerful. Jesus went through Hell to save Mankind from sin, and He died savagely and brutally. The movie depicted on the last 12 hours of His Life before He was crucified on the Cross; and the movie was very violent; during the movie, there were people who were crying openly and loudly, and some people had to leave the theater because of the intensity of the violent scenes (where Jesus repeatedly got flogged, and also when He was getting nailed to the Cross). They couldn't handle the violent scenes; and for a while, I was wondering if I could do the same; it was really NASTY at times, but I was determined to stick it through; so I stayed (although I WAS hiding my face a lot of the time in my husband's arm!). It was really graphic and intensely moving, and I never realized until I saw the movie just how badly Jesus suffered; and He suffered because HE wanted to save people like ME from Hell; and now I see WHY He did this; and now I am no longer the same person.
I couldn't sleep last night because I kept seeing the movie in my mind; and so my husband and I spent the night talking about the movie. The movie theater was packed, and when it was over, people walked out shaking their heads or crying; but some WERE smiling (WHY, I have NO idea, but they WERE!). It was a very well done film, but it was intense and powerful, and now I can't seem to get it out of my head. I also can't seem to eat that well today because the movie's scenes wrecked my appetite, and my stomach is a bit upset. My husband was crying when he saw the movie, too, but at least HE is able to eat and go about his business! LOL
The kids didn't see the movie (it ISN'T a movie for kids!), but we did, and I am trying to keep my mind off the movie by tending to my kids. Jubaki knows I am upset about something; he keeps asking me why I am crying, but I tell him that it is nothing, that I am okay; but he still is bothered by my tears. The twins are now one year old, and they are currently in their playpen, looking at one another and playing with each other. They are really getting big, and they should start walking any day, especially Kibarake. Eshe' isn't so sure, and she cries whenever we try to help her walk. She is scared of falling down again, and I think she isn't ready yet.
I talked to Louie Sandusky last night after we got home from the movie; and she said she saw it too; but she saw it on the day it opened (Wednesday). She said a whole group of people from her church went on a bus to the movie theater, and they all agreed that it was a very well done movie, but it gave them something to think about, and they saw the Crucifixion in a new way; and they agreed that it sent its message out in a very powerful, intense, and moving way. She said she did okay throughout the movie, but Bill (he's her husband) got sick during the flogging scenes, and he had to leave for a bit to clear his head and his stomach. She said that her teenaged daughter, Barbara, wants to see it, but she won't let her because she is only 14 1/2, and now Barbara is mad and won't talk to her!
I have been through hell myself, and as bad as I have had things, it is NOTHING compared to what JESUS went through (or other people; there are people who have it FAR worse than ME!), and now I am starting to realize just how lucky I really am. I have a husband who loves me for WHO I am, NOT for WHAT I am or HOW I may look to him (or others), and I have three beautiful little children who are the light and joy of my life; and I also have the support of many wonderful friends who are more than happy to check in on me when I am NOT doing well or lift me up in prayer; and they don't realize just HOW much that means to me. I am very grateful for the things that have happened as of late, and I am suddenly feeling blessed and happy. God has been VERY good to me, and even when I have been struggling with my health or my faith, He has NEVER left me, and He has been there with me, even in my bad times! He has seen me through some of the WORST times in my life, and it is because OF His love and Saving Grace that I am a MUCH better person, and I SHALL rise over my hardships with HIS help!
I have my bad days with my health, but I also have very good days (today is a good day, other than my upset tummy!), and I am starting to realize just how lucky I really am. I am now free and live in a country where freedom reigns, and I have a happy marriage and a husband who loves me and three beautiful children to love; and I also have a job and a car, and I can pay my bills and take care of my personal needs with little problems. I also get money from the government, which helps me out even more, and I never have to worry about money or not having enough. I also have friends who love me and take care of me and make sure that I am happy and have all the things I need, and I also have the happy memories of my girlhood in Africa and have the love of two brothers back in Africa who also regularly check up on me and visit me once or twice a year.
It is because of all these blessings that I have overcome so much in my life; and looking back on all that has happened to me, I don't think I could have made it through without the love of my Lord, my family, OR my friends! I am indeed blessed, and it is because of a Man named Jesus Christ! :)
