Tamyra Williams, injured last year in a serious car wreck on her way to see her sister in Texas, lets us know how she has been faring since she last wrote. (She is out of the hospital and is back home in New Jersey, where she lives.)
It's been ages, I know, since you last heard from me. But I AM still alive, and I am STILL kicking! (Maybe NOT as well as I once could, but I AM still able to get around! LOL) I am also back home here in New Jersey, and I am TRYING to get my life back on track since getting out of the hospital!!
This is Tamyra Williams. In case you don't remember me, I was the one who was injured last year on my way to Texas to see my sister when a HUMMER got my little Bug--and left ME pretty much in the same condition. I had several nasty fractures to my leg, and I had to have a fixator device on it for a very long time; but now I am happy to report that the fixator IS gone, and I am OUT of the hospital! I got out before Thanksgiving, and I have been doing therapy until only recently; and now I am considered "about healed". I am NOT all the WAY "healed" yet, but I AM close; and I am now walking again; but I am using a cane now. I'd rather go without the g.d. cane, but at least I AM able to walk again!
I had a very good holiday, as you can imagine, what with me getting out of the hospital. I went to my sister's house in Texas for Thanksgiving (she lives in Austin, Texas) and again for Christmas, and we all had the best time. Everyone was so glad to see me, and I got spoiled with gifts and the extra attention. I guess being in a wheelchair or being on crutches or having a cage on your leg does that to a person; but I WAS happy when I finally got the cage taken off my leg! (Still have it; I wanted to give it back to the hospital where I was at, but they refused to take it back; said they couldn't use it again, so I guess I have a little souvenir and something to remind me of what I went through! LOL NOT a good way to remember things; I still remember the pain I was in, and the thing felt NASTY in my leg, especially w hen they TIGHTENED the pins! OWWWWW....)
I am not working since the wreck; haven't been able to. Had been in much pain, and had to have therapy; and now I can go back to working again. I miss my job and I miss my co-workers; and I miss making money so I can pay my bills. And the job I have now isn't the greatest job; I can do better for myself, especially now, with all the bills piling up! BOY, have I got the BILLS! YIKES! I don't know HOW in the hell I am going to be able to pay some of these stupid medical bills! May have to even ask for a loan, but with MY credit history, I bet all they would do is LAUGH if I asked them for a loan!
I may eventually have to go on disability; I have been looking for a better job than the one I got now, but nobody wants to hire a woman on a cane; and I am getting frustrated. The job I have now is okay, but it ISN'T the best. I am getting behind on my bills, and things are starting to look a bit scary!
Heard from the little Cajun nurse in Tennessee who took care of me when I was in the hospital; and she was sorry to learn of my money situation. She said that she would keep me in prayer; I thought that was very sweet of her! She said she is doing fine, but is awfully busy, between working, raising her huge family of disabled kids, and such; and NOW she tells me that she is an AUTHOR! She wrote a BOOK! I asked her about it, and she said that she would be mailing me an autographed copy at NO CHARGE! That is awfully big of her; she is ALWAYS thinking of others instead of herself! No wonder I think of her as being such an ANGEL! She IS that..and so much more!!
Well, I have to answer the phone again; sure hope it isn't another g.d. bill collector! They been hounding me to death...Will write more soon; I PROMISE I will! Sorry I haven't written sooner, but things here been CRAZY!
