Jenna is now learning to walk again, and she is eating and doing very well. She is about to be released from the hospital, much to the delight of both her fiance', Michael, and herself.
Call it a long, rough road for me, but I have made it THIS far, and I am NOT about to let things get in my way! I am about to get "sprung" from the hospital, and after being in the hospital since November, I CAN'T WAIT!!
This is Jenna Aurora Whitson. I was the lady who was injured in a car wreck here in Tennessee last November when I was on my way to Louisiana, to see my fiance', Michael, and meet his family. (They all live in Shreveport, Louisiana.) I suffered fractures to both my upper and lower jaws, my hip, one arm, and my leg; and I was in traction for what seemed like FOREVER! But now that the metal TORTURE DEVICE is FINALLY OFF my leg, I am now WALKING!! I am on forearm crutches and am wearing a plastic brace on my one leg; but I am WALKING!!!! (Hopefully one day I will be able to ditch the crutches and the leg brace, but for now, anything to help my walking is better than sitting in a wheelchair for months on end! I have had enough of that stupid wheelchair! My bum was so sore it is a wonder I still have a bum left! LOL) And perhaps, the BEST news of all: I am EATING AGAIN; and everything I eat just tastes so DAMNED GOOD! Hopefully I will put my weight back on; I am very skinny! In fact I am so skinny I look like I have ANOREXIA! LOL I look EVIL! LOL
My darling fiance, Michael, has been at my side most of the time I have been here, and he has been a dear. He has made sure I had everything I needed; and he regularly called my sister Jerrica back home in Anchorage, Alaska (where I live; I work at a bank there!) and kept her up-to-date regarding my condition. She came down to see me too, which made my recovery more pleasant, and seeing her and her boys, Thomas and Garrett, made me forget of my pain and my troubles, even if it WAS for only a brief time. The boys are getting so tall, and it is obvious that they did NOT take after MY side of the family tree!
I also have been seeing my favorite nurse, Louisiana Sandusky, on a daily basis, and she has been spoiling me with lots of love and extra attention; and she made sure that I had relief from my pain whenever the pain from my leg, hip, jaws, or arm got to me, and she was always encouraging me. She knows that I will be going to Louisiana soon, so I can FINALLY meet Michael's Cajun family, and she says that I have been a blessing to her and have been a very good patient. She tears up whenever she sees me because she knows that I will soon be leaving, and she will miss me. I will miss her too; I will miss her sweet magnolia-scented perfume, her loving touch, her gentle yet caring nature, and her crinkly black eyes that shone with love and laughter. Her eyes remind me so much of Michael's: they are dark, intense, and full of feeling: you can definitely tell how Michael or Louisiana are feeling just by looking in their eyes.
I have met her husband, Bill, and Bill is very nice, too. He is as tall as his wife is short (Bill is nearly 7' tall, and his wife, under 4' 9" tall), and they look rather funny standing side by side; but both have been lifting me up in prayer; and they also had their church body praying; so maybe this is one reason I am doing so well at the present time. I still have her book, and I have read it several times over already. It is really inspiring to read about this generous couple who took in sick, needy, or abandoned kids with serious health needs; and how the kids have flourished under their guidance and love. I still have the picures of the kids that they gave me, and I shall treasure them always. I am only sorry that I didn't get to meet the Sandusky kids; but maybe next time Michael and I swing through Nashville, Tennessee, we will get that chance. I certainly hope so; the Sanduskys are really a beautiful Rainbow Family!
Michael is ready to go back home to Louisiana; he misses his family, and he misses the Cajun food and music he grew up on. He can't wait for me to meet his family, and later on, we will be MARRIED! Yes, we are engaged; we have tentatively set our wedding date for September 11, 2004, and we will be married in Shreveport, Louisiana. We will then move back to Alaska, and we will make our home in my home city of Anchorage, where I currently live (until I was injured back in November; been stuck in Tennessee since then, and I am getting a mite homesick for the cold and the Northern Lights!). Hopefully, I will be fully recovered by then, and hopefully we then can move on with our lives and concentrate on starting a family of little Doucets! (My married name will be Jenna Aurora Whitson-Doucet. Doesn't that sound just lovely?? I think so! LOL)
